Ditto - I got Sauron to level 9 with the ring, yet he still didn't level up to 10 even after getting all the requirements! Was disappointed I didn't get to see him summon le fortress.

Is it just me or do others agree it's time to allow a custom made Hobbit hero!

My suggestion to replace the Eagles for Imladris faction: a summon of horse archers like those from the Hobbit movie and similar to Isengard warg-archers should be programmed instead.

This makes sense to me and still fair in gaming balance.

Just a whimsical suggestion...

Being that the one ring could be pick and use by heroes now, although not with the same powers as Sauron, would it be possible for Edain Mod to allow all heroes (including created ones) to use the ring? I think is is more befitting to the lore of LOTR. The main ring users would have physical and power changes, but the other regular and created heroes will simply be leveled up to 10 and have enhanced attributes.

AI Angmar partner doesn't work on Arnor West-East 8 player map. The AI doesn't build or do anything. Yes, I updated to 4.3.2.

Thanks in advance for reading and possibly fixing this problem.

Leave the Brown wizard out of what Saruman did! The former white wizard was known to be a hoarder of things, hence it is why he took up residence at Isengard and had many many barrels of Old Toby - heck, Saruman turned into the rainbow colored wizard before he died... meaning he was the true druggie out of all the five wizards.

Maybe you is not playing big enough maps, cause every big map I played (8v8) solo I was swarmed with all types of AI enemy generals, however the exceptions were ring turned heroes which I believe aren't programmed.

The biggest problem I've seen is Gondor and Arnor in 4.2 plus, cause all they do after the first two waves of attack the AI spam archers only - not complaining, I just wish for more fight from them!

No Arnor was weaker than Gondor since the fall of Sauron at the end of the Second Sun Age of Middle-Earth. Hence by the time the Witch-King built Angmar around 2000 +- years later, the mission was to attack and destroy the northern kingdom of the Dunedain in order to strategize a pincer attack against the rest of Middle-Earth, which Sauron knew that the western folks of Valinor would no longer interfere with the ongoings of Middle-Earth until the ending of Arda.

Tom Bombadil was the most powerful being in LOTR's middle-earth regarding the time period of War of the Ring - he was even mentioned by one of Cirdan's ambassador, during Elrond's Council meeting, that Bombadil could possible secure the One Ring from Sauron. Also, Tom had placed the One Ring on his finger when he met Frodo and it did nothing to him, he simply looked at it and gave it back to the hobbit. More over, Tom was the oldest creature living in Arda, he being there before Melkor arrived.

But, but, but he was Thorongil from age 26 to 49 during his service to King Thengel of Rohan and Steward Ecthelion II of Gondor! He was more than affiliated with those two kingdoms than just being a mere ranger of Arnor. Just fact checking...

Simply recruit the mages in the white robes. I think max is like ten for a game. Once recruited, click on the book conjuring power icon on the left of the screen where the other LOTR summons are and that'll charge your points. The more lore mages, the faster it charges.

Thanks a lot! Man, I was frustrated with this new modification change, but I'm glad you've explained it. Does Mordor have a similar tier concept as well, because I ran into a similar inability to upgrade to later buildings while playing this faction too...

I think the most funny thing about vanilla Skyrim's water system and its effects is when your character jumps or falls in and the only sound that you make is a "bloop" and theres like a rock size splash only, heh heh.

Yeaahhh, that's not and shall never represent Morgoth... that's a Balrog or Valaraukar, which is a maiar spirit, a corrupted and evil form of the Ainur kin or servants of the Valar. Morgoth would more than likely resemble an old twisted sorcerer, much like Saruman, but bald and have pitch black eyes and veiled in a cloak of shadow, for he was the lord of evil and darkness.

You should experiment more... the custom characters for the wizards is by far the best route to creating a Melkor character or a modified barrow-wight.

FYI spears should never be carried with their points downward like that, it dulls the tip-point and tangles with clothing and the environment. Might want to change it, for technicality purposes of course.

Yes he did, and Tolkien simply referred to Sauron in that form as the Necromancer, whom Gandalf and the White Council helped drove out of the southern Mirkwoods during the same days the occurrences of the Hobbit story was unfolding to the north. Though I believe the one Eye was made so to represent a more omnipresence and menacing ethereal form of Sauron that implies he is somewhat alien to the beings of the middle-earth world. Besides, there are plenty of evil characters worth a many of swords and arrows to fight and defeat based from Tolkiens epic lore.

I find this statement about the goblin faction as being underpowered is false. I've only play against the AI on brutal and with the goblin faction, it is quite a breeze at defeating my opponents. Maybe you just haven't gotten around utilizing all the powers that this faction has? The random cave spawning power along with the lair enslaving power comes in handy when one is in a difficult situation i.e. I usually try to spawn caves until I get a fire drakes one and the use these creatures to keep all attacking foes at bay along with mountain giants, catapults, and archers, while I'll flank with my footsoldiers, spiders, and trolls to attack from the side or behind. Oh FYI, those drakes level up to be able to fly, swoop down and crush enemies, and fire a flaming-bolt; this is not including the other flying drakes that you can purchase as well as the troll cave in which the Hobbit characters Bert, Tom, Bill are available as heroes. Furthermore, the goblin faction were given two ring heroes, Smaug and Shelob... doesn't look like a weak faction to me at all.

It all comes down to strategy, how to attack or defend oneself overall, and tactics, how to use your resources and troops appropriately to attain victory - one just has to experiment.

Well, that was a total buggering situation you got there with Gandalf, more so than I experienced heh heh. Yeah, I do hope this bug is resolved in the next version, otherwise, none shall be able to call it the "one" ring anymore!

Has anyone seen or experienced this problem with the Gondorian faction? Gandalf cannot accept ring, even after power up metamorphosis. Is this a bug? I didn't have this problem with the previous versions or any other ring heroes in the latest version neither.

Furthermore, it would be great to see more maps with naval warfare, such as one that revolves around Pelargir or other coastal areas in the upcoming update - its usage is very limited to a few maps and only the two biggest maps provide a good use of it. In my opinion, it would definitely expand the game play and many other things as well.

Yes I did, and Shelob is but one of many offsprings of Ungoliant, who herself fled from middle-earth into the lands south of Far Harad, after betraying her master Morgoth. Shelob had never aligned with any factions of middle earth, but unto herself.

Talking about neutral characters, Tom Bombadil neither took participation in any wars since the creation of Arda, but he's in the mod. The mountain giants are describe by Tolkien in a few words only, which was very limited in description, and had no affiliations in the War of the Ring. The Ents are pretty much neutral too, as can be seen in the movie and read in the book, but chose to destroy Isengard, not to take part in the war, but to save what was left of the Fangorn forest Sarumans orchish goons didn't hack down and burned yet only.

There were many neutral beings and characters that Tolkien used in his books that had played a monumental part just as important to any of the main factional characters, whether good or evil. In fact, Gollum was probably the biggest neutral character, who lusting and loathing for the ring of power nearly caused the doom of middle-earth and victory for Sauron! Shame on that lil ancient hobbit-like creature of a weak will and "self." Shame on him.

All in all, I was just merely making a suggestion towards the Edain mod team, nothing more.

valisnahrX - - 32 comments @ Edain Mod

Eh, just a suggestion. I figure a neutral group would add a more diversified and creative aspect into the Edain mod so people wouldn't get so bored with the old good VS evil battling gig all the time and the mod is fundamentally based from Tolkien's lore, but has many creatures, beings, and characters that were never on either side of the war. Neutral factions are important between any nations or countries rivaling or warring, if not just as important; just look at Switzerland for example heh heh.

Yeah I know this will never happen due to it's unpopularity, but who knows, maybe someone might be interested in using it for some other mod too.
