I think that those two goidelic swords are set as two-handed / one-handed and that is why the animation didn`t change.
Oh and the animations in files uni_stances and uni_sideways has been changed. But you are right this would effect all two handed weapons.

As far as I remember you need to edit the following brf files:
ani_man_walk
ani_run_p
Just change the greatsword animations to staff animations

Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately I literally know nothing about coding so I will not be changing anything in terms of mechanics or scripts etc. But it shouldn`t be very difficult to implement those models into your favorite mod.

Did you make any changes in the item_kind1.txt file? Can you specify exactly which items are bugged, so I can have a look.
This modification changes all of the armours and tunics(except female dress adn monk/priest robes), the idea is to make the "body build" more warband style rather than the one from VC. Plus there are some small modications in female troop tree and viking troop tree, also additional outlaw unit - Slavic raiders.
