A World of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones)

Mod review

Alright, my first revision was as a player hardly familiar with the mod. This revision is as a member of the development team, so it should be a bit more refined than my first one.

CONTRA

1. Spelling and Grammar Mistakes
- We're working on that pretty hard, but it takes time to revise all these lines of text. We're also working on additional dialogue and a better style in general. However, this also is tedious work, so please be patient with us.

2. Inconsistencies in Lore
- There are still some elements of Brytenwalda in the mod which conflict with Martin's world regarding lore and internal logics, but we're working on that as well.

3. Mod Still Needs Work
- Yes, definitely. There are still many castles and towns that don't look like their counterparts in either the TV series or the books. But please keep in mind that the developing team is very small.
- NPCs still need more work in terms of placement; there has been good development here, but it still could be better.
- The mod could use some more OSP resources such as additional weapons and equipment.
- There aren't that many quests so far compared to other mods. We're working on that, but it will take time to come up with well written stuff that actually fits Martin's stories.
- Transition from land to sea and vice versa still needs some work.

4. Code and Balancing Needs More Work
- Yes, sure, but I know that produno is working hard on this as well.

PRO
1. Good Performance
- There are no CTDs so far for me.
- The battles run well with a battle size of 300 and character details and textures at maximum (compared to ACoK which only runs with a battle size of 150 and character details and textures at minimum).

2. Good Design Decisions
- Some of the castles are very well done (admittedly, I don't like all of them, but they're on a good way).
- There are Wildling settlements beyond the Wall.
- There are giants, and you can even recruit them from your prisoners. The mod could use a good 3D artist for some decent giant models and textures though.
- There are some very nice armours and helmets; however, not all of them are available in the markets so far.
- There are some nice music tracks.
- Companion complaints can be turned off, they can be exported / imported - the mod offers many options to adapt it to your liking, even without TweakMB (RIP).
- A religious system is incorporated.
- This mod is pretty lore friendly: don't expect Tyrion to send you off killing some nobleman for simply telling the truth.

3. Friendly Team Members
- Produno is a decent guy, you can talk to him, and he even listens to you. Thus, if you feel like you can do something to improve the mod, simply contact him and perhaps you can shape Westeros as well. See you and have fun. :-)

CONCLUSION
A nice mod that has its potential and already offers good entertainment, but it still needs a lot of work and polishing.
