Having trouble with the bandit leader not spawning, mission 9. Checked up on the hill, just isn't there.

the problem also occurs when i try to run the MC2 shared source download.

Whenever I try to run the game, all I get is a black box that takes up a good portion of the screen, then disappears after a few seconds. After looking through other users' errors and trying the respective fixes, I still cannot get the game to run. I've changed my resolution and downloaded the microsoft visual package (and uninstalled any more recent visual packages) I've begun to think the problem is my windows 8 operating system. Any advice?
