I have been thinking also that it would be nice (realism) if the torch went flat after a while of use and required a tech to replace the batteries.
Also given the limitation on weapons I was thinking that it might be worth investigating the possibility of putting other items in the detector spot, such as a zippo lighter that could be used in conjuntion with a pistol if your torch went flat or something like that. A chem light stick, something non-weapon.

I think the mapping should be done by the PDA, and the minimap should be removed altogether. The ammo counters should also be removed. If it were possible to show the health/stamina bars only when in danger that would be great but otherwise could they be even less intrusive than the IWA ones.

I actually changed IWA after playing for a while to make those bars thinner to suit my liking better. :)

I don't know if it is possible but I would love it if more realism was added in terms of the HUD. More specifically getting rid of it in a way. In general if not relevant it would be nice to not see all the status bars and maps etc. It adds to the level of immersion. The "mini-map" shouldn't be there at all, you should use the PDA for mapping tasks, and the crosshair should also be disabled for more realism.

At the same time it's a pest to turn it on and off. I know that stalker can detect when the player is in danger. Is it possible to make the hud (or relevant parts) show only when the player is in danger?

You would want to know your health level at least while in combat.. or maybe have it show only once your health is not 100%?

I know it won't be to everyone's tastes so maybe have it based on the difficulty level. Those playing it properly on Master get the HUD-less experience, those on easy have the hud all the time. Or make it a configurable setting in the options.

I love it. Mist was one thing that I thought was really lacking in the stalker series.. it could have been done used a lot more. A thick mist like this adds so much atmosphere and makes it challenging in a whole new way. :)
A volumetric mist would be nice but I don't know if it's possible with current tech let alone the x-ray engine. Seeing the mist move and stir as something moved through it just outside the visible range would be awesome.

Maybe I'm using my scopes wrong but everything around the scope doesn't black out. Out of focus perhaps but not black. Seems a bit odd.
I do understand that it may be a limitation of the engine that it has to be blacked out because it would zoom as well... but as for being realistic.. not so much. imho.

Having said that. I love the worn look.. it's awesome. I am really looking forward to this mod. :)

I am all for ultra realism and a good challenge. To that end will the HUD and cross-hair be removed?
I was actually thinking about trying to script something myself that could detect when the player was in danger (like the game does with the dynamic music) and show very minimal health and stamina bars only while in danger mode and when not it danger the hud disappears all together.
