thats weird. im seeing a full 360 - although the timer *is* stopping at 3 seconds. im not sure whats wrong. the upload might be faulty maybe...silly moddb

yea it is i guess. Discovery isnt that creative but it pretty much sums up whats happened in the "story" (Sirius discovers the teams from homeworld 2). other suggestions for a name is welcomed. we're still new in the project. We might need to look at staying close to "Discovered" though - Homeworld 2 Unveiled or something. :p

no, its not. but i wasnt aiming to make a patriot. only something that looked like it to give the idea that this was based of it (and it was). so you see no resemblance between the image above and this (topmost ship); alturl.com/jqpz

To be honest, i really dont know. I need to learn what is and what isnt possible when modding homeworld 2. idealy, they would be arranged in a line with a start and a finish. There wont be any in between ones - they where a disadvantage in freelancer for the ones who used it. they had the possibility of being attacked by pirates who disabled tradelanes. since the story is set decades after the real story, we could safely say that technology would have been advanced enough to only need two tradelanes (Start/finish)

The Vaygr and Hiigaran both have their stories already. i dont want to interfere with the stories that have already been developed. This is sort of like a new chapter.

a benifit will be that it costs nothing to use. the energy needed to run jumpgates will cost X amount per jump (cost is the same regardless of distance)..

and even though technically jumpgates are the fastest way to get around, it takes a while to initialize the jumpgate and actually enter it. With tradelanes, the ships wont need to stop to use them. they just fly right in. This means that tradelanes are faster at short distances when compared to jumpgates.

so what does this all mean?
if you need a fast way of getting from one place to another that isnt too far apart, you may as well set up a tradelane. it wont cost anything, and it would be alot faster. not only that, it will save you money. why would you pay X resources to hyperspace, say, 15k away when you can do it for free and spend them X resources on a different jumpgate to hyperspace a distance of 50k's. make sense?

hyperspacing will be one of Sirius United's weaker areas.

yeah i just watched the scene.one does get destroyed but there was 5 sleeper ships firing on it. those weapons also looked like forward guns only (not turrets) and in the homeworld mod the front end of the sleeper ship would be used to release completed capital ships etc (it splits away from the body and opens up, sort of like the hgr mothership releasing destroyers) so the guns would have been removed. lets just say that, for the sake of keeping the game a little balanced haha. hows that work?

they would be equipt with several turrets (that they didnt appear to have in the video) aswell instead, giving them something else to concentrate their power systems on in case of an attach

i wanted something a little more special than the regurlar freelancer battleships. Something to show the union of the different factions. The Union Cruiser would have the best of all the separate freelancer factions (Rheinlands armor and capacity, Kusari's speed, Liberties Forward Weapon power, and some of bretonia's heavier weapons as its secondary heavy weapon system).

I could put in the Osiris as a faster, cloakable capital ship. it would be alot weaker than any other capital ship though, sitting somewhere in between frigate and capital ship.. how's that?

edit:

and yes, bretonia destroyer is the same as the other faction's cruisers. for bretonia it goes:

gunboat -> destroyer -> battleship

while others are

gunboat -> cruiser -> battleship.

I love the eagle. In freelancer the eagle was a symbol of speed, and in my opinion the work i did on this remodel captures that too. it looks just like a speedy jet. real proud of this.

Not all ships are included. The ship will be as close as possible to their freelancer counterparts. But this is homeworld, so i will need to do whatever makes the game more balanced. The easiest way of doing this is to include ships that are close to each other in power level for the different classes of ships. (so for fighters, i have the titan, sabre and eagle, rather than having the starflier and titan in which case i would need to beef up the small starflier. This wouldnt feel very nice for those who know what the starflier is really like against a titan (Completely outclassed)..)

yeah your right. since the body of my one is a lot thinner, i cant make the nose too long without it looking weird (and making it fatter would call for alot of changes - we arent after exact clones anyway)

heres as close as to the original sabre the nose will get i think:

sabre has a unique shape and design, and i think that this redesigned version suggest "sabre" enough for it to work.

its a possibility. might look a little weird as the LF's arent too different to regular fighters. (i mean, for some ships the difference between light fighter and VHF is a few fins).

much much bigger. but really, compared to the sleeper ships in the introduction video, the one behind malta are puny. im not entirely sure *why* it was made so small. they should have scaled it up very large to give us something to awe at. there isnt alot of large objects you get to fly around in freelancer.

im trying to keep all the ships roles, power, etc the same. i have considered that but anyone who has played freelancer will know that the trading ships in freelancer arent powerful enough to be seen as corvettes. i might remove the corvette class or something. i dont know yet, to be honest.

and yea, the number of ships are good but i might struggle with finding corvettes.. Frigates, capital ships, fighters, bombers etc are fine. corvettes are the only problem

individualy there wouldnt have been enough ships for all the factions, so ships have been taken from different factions. (The outcast's Sabre is a bomber, where as the Eagle is an interceptor.). Even with the factions teamed up, there isnt too many ships to play around with (No corvettes?)

haha excited hey. I was never a personal fan of the nomads, and its been far too long for me to even recall what was different about the dom'kavash (i only played single player through once; but online for years). I may consider them but at this current time, no. main problem is that they only have 3 ships. i'd have to make a few up and that isnt what i want to do with this yet. I will release a list of ships soon so you guys can see whats in and what isn't for this race.
