Modding Bleeds

Mod review

A Half-Life 2 Modification that implements well the Hotline Miami gradients and vibes, amazing music that goes well with the gameplay and the Cutscenes.

The gameplay itself is relatively simple: Grab, Point, Shoot, Steal. Each map having 2 floors of eternal pain. Yes, the mod wants you to learn by constantly dying until you learn what you're doing wrong and/or you're not enough fast about whatever you're doing wrong, quite frustrating, right? Not to mention that the Engine may suffer Game Crashes because of too many effects or any other reasons such as Dynamic Lights. The gameplay is overall okay, simple.

Now, about the part that quite stirred up the hive as of recently, in regards to the Uncensored Version of the game. People that got to play it are well aware about what it was all about. But it's mainly about the Good Old Political matters that this Community's been suffering for a couple of years now, Now, why I bring that up? Because one of the levels named VMF-FACTORIES which was rather suggesting/targeting a certain group of interest in this matter, where the group was rather manslaughter in a FPS game, shocking so far? Perhaps the allegations about both groups of interest taking part in it took it too serious, haven't they? Probably they have, but I get their point of view as well about thinking that the creator is insane or whatever. Not at all, the Creator rather expressed his frustration, but I believe this frustration was taken way too far, in a FPS game that's meant about killing. Perhaps, there should of been a disclaimer on that regards specifying that "All groups of interest that were mentioned in and/or rather been assumed in the manslaughter from the 2 Levels are not meant to encourage killing and/or any other forms of harm that may bring to the members of the groups of interest", That may also worked instead of censuring it entirely, right? Theoretically speaking, considering the fact that the creator got contacted by the Mod DB staff for the removal of any affiliation and evidence of those 2 groups in the mentioned Levels, wouldn't that also mean that no one on Mod DB can no longer use existing groups? Given the rules that were enforced upon this mod? The whole situation is also conflicting and bright a spotlight on the confusion that it has created on whenever one can do this or that at this point.

So, returning to the story. The story want mainly meant to portrait the struggles that a Gold Source/Source Modifier has to deal within a daily basis to bring up content to it's fans/community, which it has done more than well as a matter of fact.

BLACK-Life

Mod review

I think the fact I rated it 1 speaks for itself, this is a racist mod... with racial slurs and what not. I really hope Mod DB Moderators will take this down, because this is unacceptable.

Half-Life : Residual Life

Mod review may contain spoilers

A fantastic mod, my favorite and always my favorite mod, that's the mod that is inspiring me to create a mod and to not be afraid of "if it's canon or not, just **** it!". The new enemies that are featured look fantastic, the lore of that character is pushing me forward to find out more about it, just recently I found out that Residual Point and Residual Life are basically made by the same people, and that the main characters in both of these are a family, as it is stated in the introduction, but my favorite is still Residual Life as it feels unique in a way.

HALF-LIFE: Brave Brain

Mod review may contain spoilers

For a mod released in 2003, it's really a great, you get to see resonance cascade during the HEV training, and fight your way trough the canals, I remember back in 2012 or 2013 I had some trouble with a vent, but made it several times, it's a great mod, I recommend it.

Half-Life: Anti-Climax

Mod review may contain spoilers

Got the mod finished in like... 47 minutes and here is my review regarding it:

After the uhhh... 5 minutes intro that you get briefed in the train, like in the Half-Life 1 ending, you get to choose, I choose to get into the portal, well... Valve credits rolls out, that's one of the parts that got me really confused and was like

"Is this all the mod? this is what I was supposed to do....?"

When I reach around the end, it's what made me laugh, anyway, I sit again in the boring 5 minutes intro blah blah...
This time I don't choose, so I just sit there... 10 seconds or so, then alien grunts get to shoot at me, once again I was like

"wait I was supposed to do something?"

This part was the most frustrating part of the game, getting to jump across while more enemies spawn, I can bet I died like 10 times or so, finally I reach the other side, portal opens blah blah... once again I was in a complete fog until I figured out

"ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh so the portal changes destinations AND I DON'T HAVE TO GET TELEPORTED BEHIND THE ALIEN GRUNTS THAT WILL KILL ME"

As I said, it's really frustrating until you understand what in the god damn is going on.

Anyway... after you get to know your objective, you know what you should do, so from there it's simple, you get a key card, get crystal teleported, free vorts, fight the grunts, and get teleported somewhere in New Mexico where Barney owes you the beer. Happy end, or it is?

Anyway, been reading around the page, I still haven't figured out how you can trigger the bad end or find the pink alien pod that god knows what it does.

Overall it was challenging, it's all I can say, you don't get to know what you should to do, which is very frustrating at the beginning, there's nothing really to tell you what to do, where to go, what this does, and so on.

It's the reason I will give it a 8/10.
