Star Wars BattleFront Commander

Early access mod review

Let's start off simple:

I adore this mod. I love it to death. It's wonderful.

The new infantry skins and everything else make ground combat fun. The infantry models are superb for a change- aside from the ones that have been left unchanged. The Mandalorian infantry aren't just a bunch of reskinned Boba Fetts, which was a splendid surprise. The new space units for all factions involved are a real treat and I love the infantry-heavy refocus of combat. That it is transparently a Galactic Civil War-focused Republic at War actually does it a lot of favors. (That the Clone Wars-era is relatively low on visuals based upon the 2008 TV show is a HUGE plus over Republic at War- believe it or not, this mod made me replay Republic Commando and reignited my appreciation for that era.)

Unfortunately, the early-access status of this mod shines through a lot- client instability and frequent crashes are rampant- whether it's from a glitch or a unit the game apparently has no way of dealing with yet... it hasn't made me stop playing, but suffice it to say that I've not yet properly quit out of the game, and I've been playing almost daily for nearly a month.
CIS faction is content-low.

I really, really, really look forward to playing the final release. Good job so far.

Empire At War Remake: Galactic Civil War

Mod review

I'm really quite fond of this mod- particular highlights are your inclusion of some of my favorite Imperial ships, as well as the fact that you seem to admire the work of Ansel Hsiao as much as I do. I love all the completely new ships as well as the revamped models of the existing ones (more to come?), I love the accurately-sized fighters, I love the description of the Nimbus (though question your judgement of such a beautiful fighter).

I especially enjoy that you've resized and renamed some of the Consortium's more fanciful units (the Aggressor and the Vengeance, namely) to be more militarily believable. And I /love/ that new Keldabe, I love, love, LOVE it.

This is a mod whose changes are so high quality that it makes playing other mods kind of difficult, as there'll always be a bit of a drop between them.

My only major quarrel is the fact that ground combat remains untouched. I can't personally blame you for that- making ground combat playable is something very few mods have been able to come close to, let alone achieve.

My one real call-out is your removal of the Defiler's Sabotage ability- it means the campaign is broken at an early point, and the mod makes the campaign /really/ fun otherwise. That's my one gripe aside from ground combat (which, as clarified, isn't really a gripe in the end).

9/10, space combat is beautiful, ground combat revamp would be nice but not necessary. Definitely a lot of potential on display here. Overall worth the download.
