Adding new units or factions, I'm afraid, is NOT the focus of the TALON mod. The idea of the TALON mod is to make the gameplay more balanced and varied, while avoiding complicated alterations such as adding factions or units.

Remember that every new faction needs a whole lot MORE balancing than the current C&C3 factions. As it is now, the gameplay is varied and balanced (with continual improvements in development, I might add). The team doesn't feel that any additional factions are needed in the mod.

Well some of us old-fashioned CnC fans remember the Visceroids in Tiberian Sun, those were scary buggers! Kinda wish they were as strong in CnC3 because it makes a nice extra challenge, and means you can't just leave infantry around! ;)

Hi there, firstly: the team is aware that the AI is not brilliant. However, we think we've definitely improved upon the original in a few key ways.

Secondly, the 'random' AI is in fact just a setting to pick an AI personality at random, and to play as that: you were playing a personality that might have been one you'd already played. A thorough playthrough would have involved multiple plays against each AI personality, so either you weren't testing thoroughly (no offense meant, we appreciate the help! In fact we'll feed what you said into what we're already doing), or the very fact that you didnt know what personality you were playing against made it harder for you. =)

Lastly, having spoken to the man who's most familiar with the code, I have to say that it's not that simple to just reprogram the AI. As I understand it, most of the triggers and tactics that they use are hardwired and we can't change them. It's not that we don't have the know-how... we simply can't get to the code. We've so far only been changing the unit caps etc. This has changed the AI to what is in the current versions.

Once we've finished fiddling about with the gameplay itself, we might well go into what we can with the AI scripts, etc. But that is unlikely to be in the next update.

Thanks for your comments though, we like input about what should be a priority: it seems to be in line with what we think, too.

Hey guys, I just re-read your last update and I'm liking what I see... I love that you're going to add yet more stealth options to Nod - the stealth thing is a great playstyle to use, and I feel it needs a bit more beefing up... Nod are my favourite faction =)

And it's good to see that you're keeping your eyes on the prize with the scrin, although I never get the hang of them I think it would be fun playing against a decent human player (playing scrin).

Finally, what do you mean by a "better" economy?

Hey guys, I'm still loving the mod.

I just wondered how you evaluate balance issues:

1) Do you evaluate balance quantitatively or qualitatively? Or a mix of both?

2) Do you compare the current version to older versions of the mod, to the original game, to alternative versions of the 'current' version, or a mix of all of them?

One I like to use:
Playing as Nod, skip the hand of Nod and build some buggies and scorps, then cloak them ASAP. One instant map control force! Pay lots of attention to them :)

Hey guys, I said a while ago that I'd get back to you with my comments on the latest update, and up until recently I've not been on the PC much at all. Since then, I've had a good play around and I have to say I still love it.
I think you've done a great job with Nod so far - they're sneaky and aggressive but still need the micro to succeed. I've not played Scrin or GDI as extensively, but I like the way they're panning out - especially the way the Scrin seem to be more reliant on tiberium now.
I have one thought - if the Scrin are so reliant on Tiberium, why are they collecting it rather than spreading it? It would be an interesting experiment to see what happens when their harvesters actually place tiberium rather than consume it. Not that it should necessarily be included in the mod (it would require a LOT of work to balance!).
Still loving the way you guys are looking to take this mod!

What are you guys thinking about the new C&C4 that's been announced? Any plans for a C&C4 Talon mod?
And what are your thoughts on the rumoured walker-style bases that I've been hearing about? =)

So is that going to be balanced with an increase in the cost to upgrade? Just a slight one might be appropriate, I haven't checked if the upgrade cost for Scorps is the same as that for Preds but at the moment by rights it shouldn't be equal.
To simplify: Is this a fix for a current inequality, or is it a significant change that will need to be balanced somehow? :)

Oh dear, it's almost even more annoying when you hit the wrong hotkey and it takes out 8 scorps and 6 buggies in one go =\

Hi again guys,
Was the way that scorpions explode when killed meant to be a disadvantage also?
The reason I say this is because if you have a load of Scorpions (four or five of them) in a line, and one runs over a mine it makes this huge chain reaction which kills them all! Was this effect intentional, or just an accidental effect of the fact that Scorps are now packed full of explosives?

Hi again you Talon guys! (and gals if there are any)

Well, I do like the update from what I've played, but I'm afraid I've been studying hard recently so I haven't had a lot of time to play it. I like the way the new Mothership works, and I think you've done a great job balancing the Scrin.
I also really like the way you've speeded up veterancy, it makes for a more even match between a fresh group and a group that's been in combat and is a bit shaken up, which I think makes it more important to keep your units alive, and less important to make new ones. Kudos for that =P

I'd like to point out that when the Mothership uses its warp ability, the repair drones don't warp with it, and have to fly across the map. Is this intentional? =)
Finally, what was the thinking behind the repair drones for Tib Spikes? I don't get it...

I did the maths on Sinjal's recommendation there and that would amount to between 34% and 68% of the number of units already in the game (not counting Harvesters, MCVs, Surveyors) added on top of the current units... AT LEAST. =)
Now, even to me that seems a silly amount! The Talon team are perfectly right to take the approach they are. Well done them ^_^
However, if we begin to talk about replacing original units with new ones, then perhaps that's not SUCH a crazy idea =)

Yeah, I understand that it'll take a long while to get everything done, but getting in a lot of ideas might help you prioritise what you want to do most, and it might bring about a big change in gameplay early... rather than fiddling about with some things for ages and then implementing an idea thats been left on a shelf somewhere and going "WOW, why didn't we see this before?!" =)

So I'm just trying to help =]
