As a mod, it's ******* incredible, It's so good that you could convince someone that it was an actual expansion pack by Gearbox if they didn't know any better. But is it perfect... kinda
Most of my issues are down to preference, I don't mind most of the HD Models, but I almost never use them because they feel out of place in Half Life's design.
I also experienced some fps issues as well, but I'll place the blame on my potato laptop.
That said, the game's dev Mr. Gnang has put a hell of a lot of detail into Black Mesa, so much that the HD models fit the game's design and level of detail. Black Mesa feels actually lived in, and there's a lot of freedom in how you can approach each level (especially in the beginning), it's so good that I feel that I missed a thousand little things on my first playthrough. I don't think I've seen Black Mesa more beautifully realized in any shape or form on the Gold Src engine... like ever.
