Do you have Commandos 2: Men of Courage installed? That error message usually pops up if you tried to install the mod without the original Commandos 2: Men of Courage installed as this is a mod and not a separate game. And also you must make sure that the mod is installed to the same folder as Men of Courage.

You can use the nightingale mod, this allows you to make the menu resolution the same as the in game resolution by changing the config.

Did you try to install the mod without Commandos 2: Men of Courage installed? You must have Commandos 2 Men of Courage installed first to be able to play this mod.
