That's the problem here. I must have been in at least 10 battles, and at no point in time after those battles was I promoted past recruit. I shouldn't still be a recruit after 28 days and 10 battles in England while in France I was promoted in 2 days and 2 battles.

Update: just started a new game and joined the French army. I was promoted to footman after two battles. I think I only killed one or two troops.

My thoughts are that maybe the smaller countries that are at war with their immediate neighbors (i.e. England vs Scotland) have no time to process troop upgrades. One thing I noticed when I was with England was that as every lord lost troops, they would replace them with militia and not upgrade them. It seemed kind of weird to me for my lord to have only 10 archers and then have 45 militia, but now I think it makes sense. There are so many battles going on that there's no time to upgrade troops.

Same here. So far I've played in The Holy Roman Empire and the English army. I was able to get to knight pretty quickly with the Germans, but I've been unable to get past militia with England. My duke just won't promote me. So far it's been 24 in game days since I met the xp requirement, but I still have not been promoted passed the base rank.

After playing this mod for quite a while, I have to say it is by far one of my favorites.
There is one thing I feel that would make this mod so much better, and that would be to add the Freelancer mod. I would absolutely love to put all those pole arms that can't be used on horseback to better use as a foot soldier in the army.
