You can start the first mission by talking to the scientists. Then just spawn the requested artifact and give it to scientists. It worked for me once.

Spawner did work, but I wasn't able to spawn Topol. Instead I just spawned the artifact the scientists requested. It was during my last play and I didn't play long enough to start the mission, where you have to protect Topol and his team while they're taking measurements in Ash and Fen anomalies. I guess it's impossible to complete them without Topol. Maybe there is a spawner, that can spawn Topol though.

That one You missed for sure. Or perhaps You threw them with that ammo. They mostly die with one shot, sometimes it takes two and only once I've seen a guy take 3 bullets. Killed one heavily armed merc with one shot to the leg! I don't think there are arteries in the game so I don't know how it happened.

All this shrugging off low damage talk is just good old "I-can't-do-it" instinct talking. It's a slippery slope and the next step will probably be that You're going to start increasing actor's HP.

As Jasper put it - by changing your tactics, adapting and resolving seemingly impossible situations You'll get way better.

You have to right click knife. Right click will kill anyone in one hit, I think. Left click is useless. So always stab, don't slash.

And about mercs at WPS. Yes, they will see You far away, but it's weird in close. They didn't see me crouching near their base later. The other guys didn't see me killing their mates either. Managed to eliminate whole camp without anyone shooting at me. They didn't even notice me. Did this during a major thunderstorm and felt like Vasily Zaytsev. I guess You're doing something wrong with the stealth, because there are numerous examples how the system works. In vanilla there was absolutely no stealth. NPC's could see You behind the tiniest cracks. If You call that a working stealth system, then how can You struggle with Misery?

Since it's an undercover operation, giving a player too much money or ulta great weapons raises suspicions. That's why You start with pretty much nothing. And it's completely understandable. Plus the Black Road is something entirely different. The mission part is just a mandatory part You want to get over with. Misery is more for sandbox purposes.

This mod is meant to be hard. If You don't enjoy this now, revert back to vanilla and practice a little more. Someday You'll understand.

We all completed the quest since it's a part of the storyline. He's in the little building by the dock cranes.

And yes, it was a blooper but playing Misery kind of assumes that a person has finished vanilla at least once.

Imagine a circle around You. That circle is 500 units long (I don't even know if diameter or radius). Within this circle You can see stalkers and mutants moving around. Outside this circle they get simulated by computer and are not visible. To put this in perspective - the vanilla figure is 150 which means You, at the moment, can see life happening 3,333... times farther. I'm currently using 200 because of my PC and I can't see mercs in the Waste Processing Station when I'm standing on the other side of the Big Bridge.

Lowering this figure can help You with the NPC long distance approaching issue, but be ready for close combat since NPC-s and mutants appear closer when this figure is lowered.

1) No it's not. Unless You follow a group and travel where they do, but that's not what You meant, is it?

2) I think new squads spawn after every 6 hours. The most popular areas are Ranger station, the marshlands by Skadovsk and various campsites (by the Izumrudnoye, two camps near the Waste Processing Station). You should encounter NPC's frequently, but there are dry spells occasionally.

3) It's a know issue and there's a lot of talk about it in the forums. There's even a campain where MDT showed us where and what to change in order to find the best solution for this issue. You can check it out here: Moddb.com

4) Yes. There is a bug or something. It alerts hostiles about Your position once You load a save. So always save before going on a stealth mission. Stalkers won't attack You, but mercs and bandits do. It depends on gameplay choices of course, but attacking for no reason is common for everyone and not an issue.

I think the stealth system has improved a lot since Misery 2.0 and 2.1 BETA. It's an amazing progress. I shot one guard behind the Ranger station and the guard by the stairs didn't even notice it. Did it with silencer of course. Sometimes they aggro at me but revert back to normal behaviour if they can't find me. A bandit once run just past me in the dark (he almost touched me) and didn't see me. I could say that the stealth system finally pretty much works.

In Your case. You probably knife killed the guy while other mercs were a few metres away (since they're packed tightly together in the Waste Process station and there's no other option). I'm pretty sure You can hear it when a fully geared merc with a weapon, backpack and god only knows how much other loose stuff, hits the ground flat a few metres away.

If You still think it's ********, then go take a drawer full of kitchenware and throw it on the ground and see what sound it makes and how far can You hear it.

Good luck!

Did the snork mission without armor too. Still haven't bought an aromor and I'm close to completing the first map. Got to buy one for heli evac location mission, but otherwise I don't really want one. Awsome stamina and the ability to relocate fast compensates the lack of armor. Cool way to play! :)

I know it's kind of random, but 3 SVD's from all 3 dead bodies from the Iron Forest stingray site? What's the odds for that?

Woah, just looted the 3 military corpses at the Iron Forest. They all had Dragunov SVD on them. So I got 3 of them. Is it a bug?

Funny thing is that I just bought one before going there.

And it's great to see that you've locked the underground laboratory door. I hope it's populated too!

Zombies aren't semi transparent. The only semi transparent things are bloodsuckers, but when they go down, they stay down too.

Do they scream? Izloms? I have heard them quite a few times during emissions but never seen one (although I have been all around the first map). Would have been quite scared when I first heard them, but I red here before that they were added

I'm just wondering if I should install 2.0 first and then 2.1. On the official page it says 2.0.1 and 2.0.2 are outdated and included in 2.1 but it says nothing about 2.0. On the other hand - 2.1 is almost 3gb which is 500 mb larger than 2.0. It feels like 2.1 includes 2.0 too, but what do I know.

I'm just going to uninstall all Misery files and COP at the moment. Download the 2,9gb patch and install everything from the scratch.
Hey, that rhymes!

E: Just wondering. And You can bury it, got my answer. Sorry :)

This problem started a while ago. I can only load quicksaves. When loading hard saves I always get CTD. Crash log says nothing about fatal error. It's too late to go back now in my game, but I just hope it's known bug and will be fixed.

Edit: Okay. Tried quicksave now and the same thing happened (for the first time). No crash log at all.

It all started with one CTD. It happened during a major thunderstorm and I kept playing. Thought it was my PC screwing up. But then it started happening more often. Can't copy a crash log since I don't have it. Too bad.

I installed the v2.0.2 and started a new game a few days ago, meaning I have done things properly so far. I was just wondering if I have to start a new game after the quick fix.

Go to Stalker folder in My Documents. Open "user.ltx" and navigate to "hud_info off" and just change it to "hud_info on". You'll see red/green/yellow crosshair and will be able to separate friends from foes. Good for close gunfights, and doesn't work well over long distances. So pretty fair and not too unbalancing I think.
