I'm running with a pretty mid level PC:
AMD Athlon II X4 645
8GB DDR3 1333
Radeon HD 6670 1GB GDDR5 @ 1920x1080
Win7 64-bit
The game is set to just over the "high" settings and DX11 lighting, and 4x MSAA forced through the graphics driver. I'm getting 30-40fps with Misery 1.1.
In reply to my own post, I've figured out how to remove the zoom from using iron sights:
1.) Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\stalker call of pripyat\gamedata\configs\weapons (or wherever your CoP is installed)
2.) Open the .ltx file for each weapon you want to edit in notepad.
3.) Find the entry for scope_zoom_factor, and change the corresponding value to the FOV you set when installing Misery. You may need to decrease these values if you still have zoom effect.
4.) Save and exit notepad.
Note: The scope attachments that you add to weapons shouldn't be affected by this change, but don't edit the values for a weapon with a permanent scope, or you'll break the scope.
A suggestion for the mod would be to remove the slight "zoom" effect that occurs when using the iron sights on a weapon. Raising the weapon to your shoulder shouldn't turn your eyes into telescopic sights.
Are you trying to start from a saved game, or starting a new game?
I'm pretty sure you'd need to start over.
USS stands for "Ukraine Security Service", which is a fictional organization. The closest real organization would be the Security Service of Ukraine, abbreviated SBU. They're kind of like the Ukrainian NSA.
The Zone is in the Ukraine, not Russia, if you didn't know.
My solution to the lack of ammo was to edit the files that control weapon damages to make them more realistic (changed hit power and impluse based on muzzle energy of the round, bullet speed based on actual muzzle velocity, weapons of the same caliber all do the same damage, range and rate of fire based on actual weapon characteristics). I also made grenades more realistic (300+ frags instead of 10, frags cause heavy damage and bleeding, anything inside immediate blast radius dies).
That way, no longer does it take 5 pistol shots to kill a dog, or three shotgun blasts to kill a snork (Yeah, they're mutated, but they're mutated dogs and humans, not rhinos).
It might seem like cheating, but all these weapon changes also apply to NPCs, so there are no more Rambo-style fire fights. A grenade, a single rifle shot to the head or center of mass, or even a well placed 9mm shot can severely injure or kill an unwary player.
