This game made my pre-teen years much easier.
I had the first box with 5 floppy disks. Had to change config.sys or autoexec.bat in DOS to put EMS memory, or create a bootdisk. Good times.
I remember going to the movie theatre to watch the Special Edition in 1997 and rushing home to play Tie Fighter.
They don't make games like this anymore. EA's Squadrons sucks.
This total conversion is just awesome. Congratz.
PS: Had some trouble with the 3rd mission, the one with the Tie Bomber.
The 100m distance to activate the station tractor beam counts from the center of the object, which means it only activates if you fly very close to the belly of the station. It won't activate if you approach the hangars.
The Calamari Cruiser in the end moves quickly to destroy the station. After that, even if you destroy the cruiser, when you hit Q to end mission, the game freezes and crashes. It appears to keep trying to land your fighter until it crashes.
