ok, here's a roundabout way of what other people are going to tell you. The reason why it isnt working is because the steam version isn't compatible with WSE.
1. Go to your Warband folder and rename the application file mb_warband to mb_warband_old That's your steam version of Warband, you still want it. You're renaming it because if you don't, it won't let you download the version that'll work in the same place.
2. Go to the Taleworlds Forums website that I'll link below and click on the 1.174 exes link to download the two .exe files, these are the compatible application files that'll allow you to use WSE.
3. Once you download those two from dropbox, extract both of them to your Warband folder.
4. Next, click on the link that says WSE v4.84.rar and download those files.
5. Then, extract all of the WSE files you just downloaded to your Warband folder.
6. Click on the WSELoader file and it should open up the correct .exe so that you can select Warsword conquest.
As a disclaimer, I gave you an alternate way of doing it rather than using Warsword Conquest's WSE folder because tbh I couldn't get that way working myself and my way appears to be working so far.
