I’m a Native Gamer with a brain stem injury and quadriplegia. My goal is to help other gamers with disabilities by sharing my own experiences as a gamer with a disability. My disabilities cause my body to tense up more than usual, so I can only play with my fist and arms using the controller.

My Sherlock Holmes Crimes and Punishments - experience

Redwarrior366 Blog

I grew up reading Sherlock Holmes books, and I was thrilled to have found a game where I could interact with his cases. It had about 5 unique cases for me to solve as the famous detective, afterwards I could compare results with other players. There weren’t too many quick time events, so I could carefully plan my movements and eventually finish the game.

My Vandal Hearts Flames of Judgment - experience

I really liked this game. The gameplay was short but it was pretty cool. It was like Battleship in 3D and in medieval times. I didn't realize I was playing a prequel game to a series I'm anxiously waiting to try out in the future.

My Ken Follett Pillars Of The Earth - experience

Redwarrior366 Blog

I didn’t know much about this game going in, all I knew was that it was made by game developers I like. I appreciated that the gameplay was setup as a point and click Adventure with a dark, compelling story that could be altered by the players choices. Each decision that I made felt like it had serious impact in the game, so I felt more invested in the game. It’s also a cool way to get introduced to the world without reading the books.

My Faery: Legends Of Avalon Experience

Actually this was the first game I downloaded from the PlayStation store as redwarrior366. I was searching for a simple TBS game that would fit my disability play style. This was just what I was looking for. It had a strategic battle system with a blend of mythological lore. It was the perfect game for me to begin my gaming adventures.

My Life is Strange - Experience

Redwarrior366 Blog

It started with a relatable situation of being a teenager in high school and dealing with all the drama that goes with it. The game is episodic and each episode is another chapter in the characters in life. In the beginning part of the game the character experiences a traumatic event that causes them to develop a supernatural ability to manipulate time. The gameplay was like playing an old school adventure game in a more modernized setting, and by interacting with the environment the player could alter the storyline. There's an episode I'm not too fond of, it places the character in the position where they had to decide if they should let their friend live with a disability or die to spare the family from caring for her. I personally enjoyed the rewind feature, that way I could see the outcome of each decision I made without penalty. The stunning graphics and storyline mixed with a phenomenal soundtrack brought to life an incredible universe.

My Infectious Madness of Doctor Dekker Experience

Redwarrior366 Blog

In this fmv I played as both psychologists and detective to solve the murder of Dr. Dekker. The game had me interview the patients that were seeing dr. Dekker to find clues about his murder. I love getting to know people and I was so thrilled that I found a game where I can do this by typing a question.

My Bunker Experience

Redwarrior366 Blog

This was one of my first fmv (full motion video) games that I’ve played. It was very enjoyable being able to sit back and watch the events unfold before me. The gameplay was set up as a point and click format, which is a nice play style for me to have. There were a couple of instances when I needed assistance dragging objects to their appropriate places to proceed the storyline. I enjoyed the blend of filmography and gameplay elements that this title had to offer.

My Experience Playing The Gardens Between

Redwarrior366 Blog

My first time playing this game was at a Playstation Experience in a demo booth. The controls were easy to use for people with limited hand mobility. I would move up to go forward and down to go back. And when I would move, the environment around me would start moving. The aesthetics and puzzles were rather relaxing for me to play, I had a really fun time with it.

My Whispering Willows Experience

Redwarrior366 Blog

It was a really fun adventure puzzle game for me to play. I appreciated the simple point and click control scheme it took. Since it didn’t require much physical effort on my part I found it fairly relaxing, and it had enough puzzles to wrap my head around. Each area had a sublime hand drawn look that made me think I was investigating through a ghost story. I was pleased that I was able to complete the game with minimal aid from quick time events. I managed to collect all the trophies in the game on October 16th 2020, and thus completing the game.
