Luke: There is still old code in it.
Obi-Wan: It's more version 1.85 now than version 1.82 — balanced and polished.
Luke: I can't play it, Ben.
Obi-Wan: You cannot escape your destiny. You must face unannounced patches again.

I had this problem, and it turned out that I didn't have Forces of Corruption installed. If, when you click on "Play" in Steam, there isn't an option to select Empire at War or FoC, then you might not have FoC installed.

I had that issue as well. My problem was that I did not have Forces of Corruption installed. After installing FoC, the path worked.

I can't get Interregnum to run. :/
E4X seems to be fine (the logo appears when the game loads).
I've applied LAA to "Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion.exe"
Interregnum is above E4X on the mod list--the checksum is at 70,778,696.
The mod folders are "Enhanced 4X Mod 1.8" and "Star_Wars_Interregnum_3.1_Full_Release".
I'm using 1.82, bought the game via Steam.

The immense effort put into Interregnum is fantastic, and I'm grateful to all involved! I'm quite glad to have more Star Wars funstuffs.
