Had same problem as "Guest". My installation included JA2 1.13 Mod. Since I was uncertain as to how to delete 1.13, I manually deleted both data folders, had Steam uninstall local content then reinstall and then dropped the Stracciatella files in the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Jagged Alliance 2 Gold" folder.
No more error. Of course my 1.13 save games are also lost but I'm OK with that.
