I do level design in Source Engine as a hobby. I enjoy trying to make Source not look like Source, if you know what I mean.

I am really enjoying the maps' appearance in the matte grey.
The shapes of the brushwork and the contrast in the lighting become so defined and important. Edges and shapes just POP and the lack of visual noise and clutter is so refreshing.

Unfortunately, I will need to texture the map. I hope the textures I paint up will do the lighting and brushwork justice!

I Made a particle system with small triangular pink particles falling from the trees. I'll put up a new picture or two.

You are also very correct, simplicity is the current meta. Logos, images, games. I definitely don't mind it, its really pleasing to look at. :)

I know!
I want to get something on there so bad, but I have nothing right this moment- at least nothing that I feel "adds" to the channel. I am in a perpetual "one-upping" of myself and that seems to do nothing but slow me down haha.
This map will probably be the next thing to show up on it once I got all the models made and everything is tweeked and looking pretty.
