I do level design in Source Engine as a hobby. I enjoy trying to make Source not look like Source, if you know what I mean.
After they relaxed the building regulations in the impoverished quarters of New New York the new construction began to cannibalize the old.
I love the fact that this is a full established environment...

I am really enjoying the maps' appearance in the matte grey.
The shapes of the brushwork and the contrast in the lighting become so defined and important. Edges and shapes just POP and the lack of visual noise and clutter is so refreshing.
Unfortunately, I will need to texture the map. I hope the textures I paint up will do the lighting and brushwork justice!
