The interface of low poly and high detail is an interesting place to me. He clocks in at about 1.3k tris, but he fits a lot of detail in there. I think this is sort of the right place to be for Bloodcrusher: The actual polygon budget doesn't matter as much as keeping everything angular and seemingly low-fi. The straps are particularly good for that; it's classic wasteful use of polies to model this instead of texturing it on, but the resulting sharp lines and texture feel look somehow less sophisticated!
