In January 2016, I decided to sink my teeth into game development. I don't know if I will produce something terrible, or something good, but dammit, I'm trying!

Preparing for Chapter 2 of A Long Road Home

onebitstudio Blog

Now that the demo including the first chapter of A Long Road Home is out, I can finally start working on the next chapter, and add new content to the game. One idea I was juggling around is that what if the player would control another character, so I can show the story from another point of view?

I've already made a quick sketch about the main storyline of that part, and I am fairly satisfied with how it turned out. I won't spoil it for you here of course. :)

I'm planning to give the character a mystical abiltiy, so s/he can connect with the souls of other creatures. This can lead to some interesting puzzles, where the player has to figure out which NPC's soul to connect with, to solve the puzzle.

So, the next few weeks will be about writing and mapping. Thankfully, I figured out the hard part of development during my time with chapter 1, so I hope this time I can progress faster.

For the time being, don't forget to check out the demo, which you can download from these places:

A Long Road Home - Update 1: Trailer arrived

onebitstudio Blog

So, it finally arrived. The trailer of my very first game which I actually intend to finish.

I am talking about A Long Road Home, which is an old school point and click adventure game, created in the RPG Maker engine. Now I know what you are thinking. "What? An old school adventure game is nothing like RPG Maker!"

But I beg to differ. You can pretty much do everything in this engine, which is needed in an adventure game. Discovering new locations? Check! Varied and interesting puzzles? Check! Point and click interface? Check! Item combinations? Check!

The only thing which I have to put up with is the RPG Maker aesthetics, but I think has its charm, so it is not the end of the world. The demo of the game is coming soon, but until then, check out this short gameplay trailer:
