Resident Evil - Barry's Mod

Mod review

It's good, not great, but good.

Played this on my twitch stream, was really looking forward to some big changes to the flow of the game.

This wasn't the case, unfortunately, the item locations aren't that different at all, for example the battery for the courtyard is normally in the little storage cupboard/closet on the second floor, it's just been moved to the next room and is on the floor...

The statue pushing/box pushing puzzles remain the same. The only difference I noticed in the puzzles was the answer to the B2 door unlock code in the Hive.

I don't like the idea that Barry's gun can not use regular magnum rounds, this forces the player to have to carry 2 guns and 2 separate ammos if you want to use them, so I just stuck with the shotgun which took me all the way through, didn't need the magnums at all.

The mod also says it has added more monsters, but I didn't see any? Different textures on the zombies/hunters etc. but nothing completely "new".

I still managed to complete this playthrough, my first attempt, in 2 hours 30 minutes, earning me the LMG (Which isn't nearly as fun as the rocket launcher)

Also, using the special key to change uniform changes you back into Chris.

I have a few suggestions for changes to this mod which I think would make it more fun and fresh for Resident Evil veterans like myself.

* Put items in completely new and under-utilised places, such as replace the map in the room with the "woman drawing water" and the room on the second floor the "Heliport Lookout" would be a great place to put the battery because that is a room that is normally skipped by entirely as it only contains an ink ribbon and a magazine.

* Have different monsters in different locations, such as dogs in rooms that only zombies are normally in.

* Add the option to select soundtracks, I much prefer the original (Not dualshock)

I'm not sure how easy the above will be to implement, but they are what I would like to see, be more creative on item locations and mix it up more!

The Briefcase

Game review

This game has GREAT atmosphere and GREAT potential! The only downside being is that is very short, under 10 mins long and that's on a first time playthrough.

Has the potential to be an awesome psychological horror!
