Congratz mate

Games like yours with fresh ideas with a nice touch of retrofeel to them really deserve to get on Greenlight.
Other than all those Slender-copys, Retro-8-bit-Neon-Puzzlers/Rougelikes and/or minecraftesque sandboxgames!

Cheers to your game and idea

This is just a testbuild and the build after that will probably be a testbuild aswell.
It's still a long way until steam is even a possibility mate ;)

I just hope people do realize that after the RC3 build, the game will still be not fully released nor finished, just playable and esier to work on.
It will STILL be in BETA.

it's going to be released on steam when it's final version will be released.
For now, you can only buy it from here or other sides like that, since you're buying into an alphafunding campaign.
You can just register with your steam account, and even pay with your steamvallet, not sure about that though

The thing about greenlight is, that those that actually get greenlit, give the indiedeveloper a certain kickstart, since they can count on their game being put up in one of the biggest if not the biggest gameingplatform. That alone gives them at least a bit of a boost to not **** it up, since they could probably count on it selling well. But I agree, a whole lot of those games I clicked through in the greenlitvoteingpage looked nothing less than horrible. Those that get greenlit, however, are mostly comeing. The only project I know of, that will now suffer a major delay, is "Dream", due to insufficient funds.
The rest pretty much is makeing progress with full "steam" towards release (sry for that horrible pun :D)

However, I just entered this desura operation and this game a few weeks prior, so it's maybe this, that makes it really hard for me to feel the long wait and the frustration caused by that.

Anyway, since you've got your fingers in the sticky trap WarZ was, you'll probably know what a outrages casggrap fueled by the seemingly endless Zombiehype, looked like.
Lets just hope this will not end this way and relax with a nice little game of "Dungeonland"! Which is awesome! No Zombies though ;)

I do get your frustration about the poor-updateshedule and about the testbuild being often so broken that any kind of testing is widely impossible.
This just shows, that they made a mistake while picking up a projectmanagement-plan.
Codeing is by no means an easy task. Especially if more than one person is working on it. If you garnish that with a untransparent and chaotic codepattern, it is fullblown hell to make even the most miner changes to a code. Only if you want to make sure, it would not **** up the existing code, that is.

Personally, I'd just wait and relax. The fact that steam picked it up in greenlight gives that project a certain credibility and adds to its hype for now, so I think its fairly sure that you'll get a game for you money. If it'll be as good as promised or not, is to be seen, but that is also the case with any other title out there.

I also don't understand that focus, people seem to have with this game :D
I mean srsly, there are all kinds of people running about, literally screaming for the game like they would not have any other ocupation in their life :D
Just play something else, lift some dumbbells or enjoy the madness called interwebs, till they spit out their new release ;)

The blogpost of the 14th. gave a indicator about the eta saying that after they sorted out the more significant problems, they will anounce and set up a closed beta for the new release. This testing would probably take "a couple of weeks".

Its of course just a guess, but seeing them say that they know work on the few remaining issues and hinting mildly at the closed testing in the latest blogpost, I'd say it would be not that much of a gambit to excpect the new stable release in the end of february- mid of march.
After that, the update-shedule should improve a lot , if they actually made the changes to the sourcecode, they talked about.

But, that remains to be seen ;)

Thats the times we live in now.
You should feel gratefull that they try their best to involve the community as much as they can by their blogpost and the forums, overhauling their whole code, so it is easier to modify for us casuals (which probably was caused by an impulse of Steam/Valve if you'd ask me) and that they don't rip of on their current hype by releasing a halfbaked-game like freaking every little 16-yearold basementchild demands, with all their rightous fury of their ignorance.

Besides, If you can't wait for half a year or more for an update and grief about currently 6€ you spend on them, to finance their game you know you would enjoy, than you should not be touching an indiegame at all.

Just think about this, Billions waited more than 10 years for a Diablo III, spend 45€ when preorderd and more and got the biggest ******* stinking turd they ever got to smell in their life.

So yeah, we live in times, in which the customer has to be greatfull to get what they paid for in advance.

They all are not really stable for now, so I guess they will update their Desura-version with RC.3, which in turn is probably comeing out end of february.

The question you need to ask yourself is this:
Do I want to buy a game that is in pre-betaphase and ultimatly bet my money on it.
The things Feety pointed out, are true in the regard that for now, the game is in PRE-Beta, it is by no means a full game. You can take a look at their very informative an pleasent to read blogposts and you'll see that they are currently overhauling their whole code to fit a more modifiable and more efficient programmstructure, to allow frequent updatedes like i.e. Minecraft did. That is mostly because of Steam/Valve, if you ask me, since steam probably gave them some tips.
The version that runs stable for now is far from being "just a few pictures" or being lower than some "high school projects".
However, if you excpect a fully developed triple-A title that is developed by a big stuff 24/7 like mr. Feesty obviously did, I'd advice you to wait till it'll come to steam, as it sure will.

NeuerOrdner - - 23 comments @ Hello. Hello. We are the Modding tools.

read their post carefully and you will notice, that in order to be able to release a patch in a more frequent way, they had to make serious codechanges and edit them so there would be a more module-like code. The problem was that content they added in the new release often made the allready tested files wonky, which than had to be hotfixed with some last-minute codeing which in turn often made the new content wonky aswell.
This resulted in the complete perversion of a testbuild, since the content that needed testing was damageing the existing code, while it could not really be tested at all.

They simply needed to make the code more transparent. Thats why they need such a big break. They basically RE-write the whole game by aligning the code anew.
It has nothing to to with a perfect game, but with being able to release patch by patch.
It's was basically faulty project-planing ;)

Obviously, you did not read their last blogpost thouroghly. They said, that they will delay RC3 for a few weeks, so they can create an easily modifieable version, that has a standardized layout. Thatway, they can create new "testreleases" weekly, while modifying it in such a way, that they will not **** over old code. So there will allways be glitches, but JUST in the newly added stuff, which is what really needs to be tested.
Additionatly, they will allways release a parralel stable "up-to-date" version, which will be updated in lower frequenzy, but will allways run stable.

It's the best way, mate. That way they can itterate the game-code without the need to rewrite the old code. Just be patient.

can't really tell about anything you said since I just recently got into this.
so you might be right or just trollin, no way for me to see that.
But if thats true, I totally get your frustration. Things like that make me wary about kickstarter and alpha-funding as an idea and as a trend.
Anyway, I don't think rageing makes them work faster or help people, if what you say is true, to stay of that wobbly ride.

Well, As you said yourself, you bought this game in an alpha-funding status. That said, it is not helpfull to push the developers into harsh gamemakeing, since that will only result in a bad game.
Furthermore, those mods they add, are not som useless pieces of junk, they add whole new layers to the game, like an corelating relationshipsystem for the NPCs, a valid and immersiv gameworld or the possibility to plant seeds and farm instead of scavange.
As someone, that does a lot of codeing in his time, I know exactly how hard developeing any kind of software is. Trust me, they don't want this to fail, even more than you.
So please, stop this rant and show some patience and you'll get a top game for top dollar!

Wow, didn't know about that trailer and the anouncement, that GW is actually working on an adaption :D
Thx for that piece of info ;)

I actually own the 2nd old game " Space Hulk - Vengeance of the Blood Angels" but it did not really feel like Space Hulk, so I quickly went back to the oldschool tabeltop and the boardgame , anyway, thx for reminding me, might be worth an PS-emulator :D

Now this might be a little out of the blue, but since this is the WH40K-Fangroupe I just post my question:

Is there any kind of virtual adaption of the old-school-boardgame Space Hulk available in the vast nothingness of the www?
For those who don't know what I'm talking about:
Space Hulk was a boardgame for up to 4 players, in which, how surpriseing, a Space Hulk needed to be cleansed with the purgeing fire and smashing fist of some space-marine assault-squad.
Now the mechanics were similiar to those of the tabeltop, but the really awesome thing, were the sidemissions and random events one would encounter inside the spacehulk.
Now I really wondered a lot why GW-would not realese a digitalized version of this just mindblowingly awesome game, so I asked myself if you guys know of any indie-projects or anything about something like that.

I saw a game called "steam marines" but that did not really had the feel of a "Space Hulk" and simply. did not rustle my jimmys :/

So, there you go, any piece of info would be much obliged
Cheers

I think that feature will definatly improve the game a lot.
This will bring a whole new dimension to the game, as it offers a wide variety of situations, that will need ad-hoc decisionmakeing. Will I take this survivor into my group, risking my probably well working groupharmony or will I just leave him with the possibility that he'll remember me and come after me?
Is the Trip we're takeing safe or will there be a trap waiting for me, since that last trip really went sideways.
Just remember what made DayZ so thrilling, the notion, that despite the zombieinfection all over the place, there is still a more dangerous and cunning predator around, other humans ;)
Really looking forward to that.

Cheers
