Short answer: Post your report here or on VK, either translated to RUS or left as ENG. Maybe zip the logs and post a link.

Long answer: There doesn't seem to be a bilingual RUS/ENG person on the team yet, leaving machine translation (Yandex/Google) as the only option. Either translate your comments to RUS or leave the modders to translate from ENG themselves. Machine translation of technical details can be problematic, however the logs are (to my knowledge) always the same, regardless of localization used.

Not sure what happened to the official version as it was apparently "merged, tested, and revised for improvement". Disappointing, since someone attached my name to it.

Try using the older "official" version (v.1.051) together with my most recent (08/30) "unofficial" patch, it works. Here's the link -> Yadi.sk

I'll be downloading, then looking at, the official patch and carefully diff/merging it myself with the latest batch of revisions I've done. I'll post a new version before too long, probably a few days or so.

Another entry to add to the top of the English FAQ;

Q: How do I switch the localization language from Russian to English after installation?
A: Click on Options (Опции) from the main menu and then the third button (Игра) for the Gameplay settings. Choose the third drop-down list (Локализация) to set the localization from RUS to ENG and Apply (Применить) the changes.

You're not meant to access the .db* files at this time. Demosthenes notes several reasons for this in the FAQ, also mentioning that files may be available to modders on request. I've posted a passable English translation of the FAQ below, here's the link to save you from looking -> Yadi.sk

Read further in the comments Dude, I have described how to this somewhere.

edit: here's the comment, for anyone interested;

Time-scale can be altered by editing "gamedata\configs\alife.ltx" and changing the "time_factor" variable. In the past, one was recommended/required to also edit the "normal_time_factor" value to match any new "time_factor" but that does not seem to be the case in the default config for this mod, the values are different. Perhaps something was changed that no longer requires this, I don't know - I set both to 6 as I've always done. Either way, you are best advised to start a new game to avoid potential weirdness.

Here's a translation of the FAQ from Demosfen's VK page. It's not perfect but should be good enough. Several Q's or A's are marked with an asterisk (*). These indicate the few where I was unable to comfortably improve the machine translation, however they are clear enough to understand. Enjoy: Yadi.sk

As promised, another update to the English localization -> Yadi.sk

All previous changes are included so it's best to delete older localization patch if installed, but overwriting should be fine too. A new game is required for some changes to appear.

Note that this is not an official release, the main bulk of the massive translation job is (and has been) handled by Carlkuwait. I'm sharing the stuff I've fixed for my own personal use, none of it's perfect yet. Take it or leave it.

For those interested, some of the changes since last update include:

-random NPC first/last names corrected. Some of these are Russian/Slavic and shouldn't be translated, while others are intended to be English and remain so. eg: you'll now see "Stepa Zabyagoda" instead of "Tap Dancer Forget Yagoda" (lol), but will still see funny Stalker (English noun) last names as intended.

-player command text is fixed, eg: "Speak" instead of "to Use", "Open Door", "Enter Code on Keypad", "Start Car", etc. Also did the right-click menu stuff from the inventory screen (unload, detach scope, drop all, etc.)

-in-game English subtitles mostly all fixed for those who can't understand the Russian NPC dialog. Also fixed the closed-captioning so deaf folks have subtitles for sound effects etc.

-dynamic random news system is mostly done. eg: requests for an escort and the related mission tree all appear correct and the reports/locations of enemy contacts, kills etc. are mostly all correct. There are still a few mutant/location names left to be made consistent and, occasionally, a bizarre line of chatter.

-some mission text cleaned but not much of the whole job
-more work cleaning up the UI localization, it's nearly finished now
-whatever else I forgot...
-edit: loading screen hints are all done too
-FAQ translation coming tomorrow

Only thing I can think of (aside from possible script error), probably not a useful answer - are they perhaps moving from one map/area to another? NPC transition points are not the same as the player's but should be nearby. It seems like they disappear when they travel to a new map.

Have you installed to the default directory path, or did you install to "Program Files\" or some other system directory? Some installation locations will require you to "Run as Administrator" when you launch the program, if your user account has insufficient permissions. You are best advised to install somewhere you know the permissions are okay, like your user directory or the installer's default path. This is true for all games, not just this mod build.

Have you installed the included dependencies located in the "soft\" directory? You may need to manually copy "D3DCompiler_47.dll" from "soft\" into your installation directory. I needed to do this before the game would launch, after being patched.

I believe it's not the intention of the mod author(s) that you do so, however I don't speak for them so don't quote me. :-)

If one is really stuck due to overwhelming mutants/enemies at some location, it's always possible to (temporarily) lower the difficulty settings. A more drastic/effective solution is to reduce the "ALife Switch Distance" to a minimum until you vacate the dangerous area, then restore the previous value. There is a slider in the game settings to do this easily. I believe there's also a "God Mode" toggle somewhere in the gameplay settings.

I only mention these in case the OP is in a really tight jam - the poster above has a better idea, armor-up and go in loaded with gear.

More info might help, assuming you want assistance. Do you refer to the wee splash-screen or can you play the intro-movie? Have you installed the required dependencies included in the "soft" directory? Are there any error messages? What directory did you install the mod into? What are your system specifications (OS, GPU)?

Try the economy drop-down settings, they may adjust some of the things you mention.

Another update to the English localization for anyone who wants it. All previous changes are included, delete the older localization patch if installed as the directory path was not correct (I'm sure you noticed, my bad). The individual files should be located in "gamedata\configs\text\eng\" not loose in "gamedata\configs\text\": Yadi.sk

I've now corrected the English for almost all menu settings as well as the character generator starting locations. Previous changes to PDA text were refined a bit, I think it's done now (excepting Reference or Message tabs).

Map location names are corrected for the PDA map only, the dialog and mission texts remain inconsistent (this also applies to important NPC and faction names). As mentioned, armor names are mostly done and I will likely tackle the weapon names next.

I will attempt to fix the in-game messages as they are something that I see often. Beyond that, the other 98% remaining to be fixed is too large a job for me however I'll do what I can. Expect to wait longer for another update, the easy stuff is mostly done.

You haven't posted any system information so not much to go on but the default ALife Switch Distance is very high (1000) in the mod, have you tried reducing the value using the slider in the options? It may help or it may not - in "old Stalker", high values could cause prioblems, not sure about 64bit XRay though.

Another update to the English localization for anyone who wants it (all previous changes are included, overwrite the older localization patch if installed): Yadi.sk

Most (all?) text you see on the PDA, except the encyclopedia and messages, now has correct and consistent English. The individual map names and transition points are almost all corrected but I haven't yet done the specific area names within the maps (i.e. Cordon is named correctly, Rookie Village isn't). Some other less interesting or noticeable changes also.

As mentioned last post, important NPC names are almost all corrected but it seems you need to start a new game to see some localization updates. This also seems to apply to some map location names and transition point text. Start a new game and everything will look great, or don't and only some changes will show. Take it or leave it, more to come in a day or two (I assume some people don't want to wait for a full patch).
