Half-Life 2: Overcharged

Mod review

I have a few gripes with this mod.

1. The balancing is shocking. It's very likely to find enemies in locations where they shouldn't be, context be damned.
2. The artstyle is a mess, you'll have HL2 assets, mixed with Gearbox HL1 and Valve HL1 assets, as well as HL:A assets.
3. The settings are kinda wacky. Anyone who's played the mod would kow what I'm talking about. There's too many options and said options are also very odd, and can even cause disruptions in gameplay.

Wouldn't recommend playing the mod in it's current state.

Half-Life: Opposing Force - Official Press Demo

Mod review

Anyone who defends this has no idea what they're doing. The creator took advantage of an unemployed man to get all the clout for himself. Furthermore, he tried to be a hypocrite and suggest their copy was illegal, despite having the same files himself.

Hunt Down The Freeman Classic

Mod review

Literally just a map source file. There is no mod.

Team Fortress Classic HD Pack

Mod review

Low quality model swap, zero effort. Stolen mods as well (stockless HD shotgun).

Half-Life: Remastered

Mod review

Comprised of stolen mods, makes Half-Life objectively worse and ruins the atmosphere.

FNAF in goldsource

Mod review

This is honestly a terrible Half-Life mod if I've ever seen one. The creator is a scummy person who steals skins and credits them as his own or uses other's skins without permission. Besides the creator's moral shortcomings, the mod is broken and buggy, and the models look horrible. I know Sprinkey comes from a South American region, so I should cut him some slack, but even then, I know guys from the same areas that are legendary modellers/texturers.

Honestly one of my least favourite Half-Life mods. Easy 1/10.

Half-Life

Game review may contain spoilers

Half-Life is one of the most iconic first person shooters of all time. Gordon Freeman and the Crowbar are synonymous with gaming as a whole.
And with good reason, Half-Life is a fantastic game. But not without it's flaws.

First off, some of the NPCs look bad, even by 1998 standards. A lot of the older designs looked better in my opinion.
Second, and this is my main one, the last four chapters of the game, Xen, play badly. Not only that, the maps feel badly designed. I get what they were going for and I give them props for it, but designs only get you so far. The fruits of your labor need to be ripe and not left out to rot.

With that out of the way, let's get into the postives. The guns feel nice and punchy, and look great. Once the design team settled on a gun's design, they largely stuck to it.
The enemies like the Alien Grunts, Vortigaunts, Human Grunts, et cetera, look great! Ironically, these are the designs that changed the least since their initial modelling in 1997/98.
The maps look spectacular by 1998 standards and some of the maps from chapters like Office Complex, Surface Tension and We've Got Hostiles are some of my favourite in the whole game.

If it weren't for the flaws Half-Life has, 10/10. But, I'll leave a 9 for now.

PS, the modding community has done so much for this game, maybe pick up a mod or two for it.

SMOD: Terminator

Mod review

Another bland and unnecessary mod from Nikolay Aulov.
