I haven't downloaded this yet but will it fix this error that i get when i try to get a companion?

I've tried different dx versions too, but it still just wouldn't work. Please help

I can't use companions anymore all the sudden (I could do it before), the game just crashes when i try to tell someone to be my companion with a report saying something like "pda2_companion_location "missing. I dont know how this happened but I have tried re-installing and it did nothing.
