You're reading to much into both these bits of dramatic editing there bud.
1. You'll be in first person throughout the game, no idea how they will deal with COOP
2. They were just trying to showcase a memorable part of the game, with out that slowmo i doubt that many people who really realize what just happened :P

...sorry, kidding aside they are making a few changes to make the facility much more plausible. Remake Half-Life as if Valve had access to the Source engine back then.

The Devs are planning to include Co-op and DM

At first the M4 was going to be included as a purely optional visual change. But it's ultimate inclusion has come into doubt recently as (we've been told) every weapon has been fully implemented accept for the M4. Considering the work involved in getting an in-game weapon ready, it may not make it into the game at all.

But please, don't take my word for the ultimate discision the developers have made, I'm far from being in THAT loop.

There is, in fact, a HL1 mod that does just that.I think it was related to the same team that made another mod called Azure Sheep
