Our flame tank was originally done in or 2005 or so, well before the C&C 3 one was revealed.

The fighters are not intended as long range units. They are short range interceptors based on capital ships. As such, they have much reduced fuel loads. Scout fighters use a different type of drive system that is not based on combustible fuel (it is called a Sakharov drive). And, of course, it's a game, and based in the 22nd century involving aliens (who arrived in the 1940's). So, it doesn't occur in our universe, and the laws of physics aren't necessarily identical to those in our universe. And if that isn't enough, it's also a game.
The videos require Windows Media Player. For the person whose download does not work, the problem must be with your installation of the game. I just tested the installer on my machine with Generals v1.04 and it installed normally and works just fine. The mod installer will only work if you are using a fresh clean copy of the game, and it automatically detects the install directory of your copy of Generals. Check in the path that you installed the game to see if there are files such as DefconINI.big, DefconArt.big, and a few others. These are the files the mod uses to work. Also be sure that in the Data\scripts folder there are 4 files, including Skirmishscripts.scb, Skirimishscripts.gen, Multiplayerscripts.scb, and Multiplayerscripts.gen. A successful install should contain all of those files. If you are missing any there was a problem with the installer. Either try downloading a fresh copy, or try reinstalling the game. I also suggest you visit the Defcon forums for more timely support, as I don't visit moddb all that often. Other details that would help include the operating system your computer uses.
Defcon.game-mod.net
Those should work. I just checked them now.
There are too many changes to use the -mod command with this mod. It is a total conversion, and I prefer to support an installer. It is possible to use with Mod Swapper, but that is an unsupported option.
Yes, you do have to uninstall Defcon to play regular Generals. You also need to rename a pair of files, or just use the removal utility on the download page.
The final version is finally available for download. You can get all the info at the site.
:D
I've updated the gallery a bit, so be sure to check it out. There even is a ModDB exclusive screenshot that I added.
;)
After what appears to be a year of inactivity (I can't do anything with this profile) Defcon will be released on November 15th. It's been a long trip, but we will finally be releasing.
