8 GB of RAM does not work on XP, as it can only use 4. Upgrade to Windows 7 or 8!
Edit: unless you are using XP 64-bit, which is uncommon.
You are playing Misery 1 patch 2 (1.2), you are waiting for Misery 2.0
There is free-play in CoP once you finish the story, so you can go on and hunt for artifacts and do unfinished side-quests.
In Misery, food was expensive and scarce, especially early-game. How hard will it be to get food, will we be forced to eat more than just tea and old bread, how hungry will the player be? This is very important early game, and as such we would like to know more about it.
...because video recording software is not intensive to run at the same time as a game.
I run the game mostly maxed out, apart from enhanced full dynamic lightning, which I run on the non-dx10/11 version (they are supposed to be rather buggy).
It all runs on a i5 2500k (3.3 GHz) and a GTX 560 Ti; both a few years old and far from the best you can get.
I guess I'm lucky as the X-Ray engine is very unoptimized, so it might be luck that it works so well on my setup.
"but if the game runs like a dog on even the most competent of systems, then it's nothing but a futile effort."
I have never even seen as much as a single stutter, check your video settings.
Still feels a bit oversaturated to me, and the vignette feels a bit annoying, but that's just my preference.
Did you even check my source? Again, it seems they got something else, not the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game franchise. To back this up further, people have confirmed that the guy they got the license from does not own the rights to the game franchise, but something else (can't remember what). S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 seems to be dead at this point, with Survarium (which I have my doubts about) being the closest thing to it, coming from the original developers and stuff.

Essentialy, it says that they have the Russian trademark for "Сталкер" (Stalker), not S.T.A.L.K.E.R. The reporter also says this:
"Just talked to Grygorovich on phone. He did not sell S.T.A.L.K.E.R. rights to bitComposer (obviously), so they don’t have any rights to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. universe. Roadside Picknick is probably ok, though.
Also, they owe royalty for Call of Pripyat for 8 months."
Seems like they aquired "Stalker", not "S.T.A.L.K.E.R.". Sorry, I really wished for a S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: 2 as well, but this seems to be unrelated to the game.
