Wurm Online

Game review

This game is extremely enjoyable if you love grinding, and challenge. The progress is very very slow, but I enjoy the satisfaction after going through frustrating and long processes of creating something.

I played this game primarily on request of the developer, mainly because I thought by the name it was a zombie game - which it isn't. There were two things I could mainly notice while playing:
A: This is a very very early alpha.
B: There is a lot of progress.

Every time I messaged the developer about something, he responded quickly and with helpful contents, which I appreciate a lot. However, this game is still in a very early phase. A lot of things are still buggy, such as a forest spawning above the player on a new and unreachable level, walking on water, items multiplying or disappearing, and more. One main thing that was very difficult to live with was the system with which the water, food, and energy levels were controlled. Especially water and food faded away extremely quickly, and filling them up was almost impossible in time.

The game is missing a tutorial which explains how to play. It takes ages to figure things out, and even after having spent hours sitting down and playing this game, I could not figure everything out by myself.

I am looking forward to play future versions of this and hopefully improve the rating as the game progresses.

Wow, my first 10/10 rating, but this game totally deserves it. It builds up slowly but steadily, increasing difficulty in a way it is playable but always challenging. The combination of puzzle jumping and combat against the skeletons is mindblowing, especially with the occasional change at the final bosses. One must be witty and clever, but also patient to complete the game, whileas the checkpoints are rather close to each other and if you fail, respawning is no problem and dying absolutely not frustrating. There are some points where you do get a bit impatient, but never truly ****** off. Being able to switch between 3 characters with unique skills is awesome, but the developers managed to implement this feature in a way it must be used and is totally amazing and super fun to make use of. The graphics are great for the type of game, and the sounds, voice acting and music always hit the spot. There is absolutely nothing negative about it, and I am glad I invested money in buying this. Totally recommended!

When I downloaded and first started this game, I expected a longer and more point&click style game. Instead it turned out to be a 3D interactive game, much less point&click than I thought of it to be, and it ended way sooner than I would have expected or hoped for. I was scared even though there was no real reason to be, because the music and the sounds created an atmosphere unlike I have seen in any other game I have played so far. This game doesn't need scary music to make people shiver, because the story, and especially the sounds, make one deadly afraid of what will happen. Every moment that nothing happens creates more tension and anticipation of something to happen.

I can only recommend this to anyone, horror fan or not, and hope the developer gets support and makes more games. Absolutely fantastic game.

For the type of game it is, this one has really awesome graphics. It's 3D and the knight you play is super cute. The sounds hit the spot, and the music is good, it is just a bit sad that it is only one track with a very repeatative melody. Story is kind of non-existant, and the atmosphere gets taken away by the one big negative aspect: The timer.

This game would be super fun if it wasn't for the way too short timers. They don't let you enjoy the game at all. They make you rush through and frustrate you because you need 50 attempts to get through one single level, and you don't even feel like continuing on in the game. That also takes away the most important aspect of games: Fun.

This is a huge improvement when compared to "When Light Faded". It is extremely enjoyable, I love the Slender reference when picking up the notes, and all the new features are really cool! Crouching was nice, opening doors and interacting with objects - good improvement for a sequal. Compared to "When Light Faded" I also love the improvement in story. Last time I did not really see any storyline given except that the player has lost his job, but now there are diary entries, notes, and an epilogue which tells what really happened. The credits were well done. Some improvement could be done with the notes, they really disappeared too quickly and the ones in the beginning could barely be read because the text went over the edges left and right. The credits went by a bit too fast to read - for me at least. But all together good job, and I really want to see more!

All together this game was very average. Frustrating to play because some of the parts were extremely difficult to jump across without dying, and sometimes I just thought "oh my god, I will never make it". One time the game managed to make me ragequit at one point, because I failed so many times that I thought it was impossible. It took me a rather long time before getting back to the game and trying it again. Then I fortunately managed. The music and atmosphere are okay for the type of game, though there is no real music only ambient sounds. With some music it would have been even more amazing. Unless I got something wrong, the ending isn't really marked though, which is rather sad. Something like a written note saying "THE END" would have been nice to know. In general it is fun though, even though it is frustrating, and that is what makes the game unique.

At first I was shocked by the quality of the graphics. I mean, it is very characteristic and noticably plain. Once I got used to it though, it stopped bothering me and I was able to accept it as an essential part of this game series. The gameplay is casual for a point&click game, nothing special but nothing bad either. When it comes to the story, I am kind of uncertain how to rate it. I liked it, and it was very strange and unpredictable, but a bit too confusing at times for my taste. The confusion is caused by some parts having an undetectable or no relation to each other, which makes it very hard to guess what needs to be done and what is going on. The ideas are genius though, that I have to admit. The music and sounds were a mixture of good and annoying, it hits the spot but could be done better at times. All together the atmosphere was great, but because of all the confusion that was caused by the storyline, a part of the atmosphere was taken away and the game didn't appear as scary or disturbing at all.

All together it is a fun game, though also one I could not sit and play over and over again or for a longer time.

I give this a 0/10 for the time being. When I downloaded this with the intention to play it and give it a fair review and rating, I did not expect the game to not be running. Unfortunately it doesn't start and instead gives an error which I linked to in the comments section of the game in case you're interested. In order to get the game to run, I redownloaded, changed graphics driver, ran as administrator, tried different operating systems but it doesn't work. After that, I contacted the developer by private message here on IndieDB and described the error, as well as posted a comment asking for support on the error but I received no response after having waited a reasonable amount of time.

I will gladly take this review back, play the game, rewrite and adjust the review if someone takes the time to help me fix the error and get the game to play, but there is no higher rating possible for a game that does not even start up than 0/10 - or here on IndieDB 1/10 because that is the lowest you can go ;)

When I first got this game I expected maybe 1 hour of gameplay. In the end I ended up taking 4 hours and 20 minutes to finish the story of the game, and I yet have to get all the achievements. Graphics are okay for the type of game it is, the music and sounds are amazing, the gameplay itself is a tad boring after a while and the game itself very linear - there is not too much choice in what to do, but you can choose the order and how detailed you play. The overall atmosphere is decent, and the story is extremely detailed, long and sometimes even takes unexpected turns or continues when you believe for it to be over.

All together this is the most fun point&click game I have played so far and I definetely recommend it to anyone who likes games with excellent story and point&click adventure style!
