The U.I. is really improved in two categories : recruitment (you can repeat recruitment + separate queues for commanders & units) and army scripting (you don't need to redo everything when you want to change part of your script + there's a lot of shortcuts, so you can set everything really quickly). That really saves a lot of time, and going back to dom3 is a pain.
There's a couple of other interface goodies, such as new mages automatically researching, and you can do monthly forging. The rest of the UI is fundamentally the same.
