So in RvS 2.0/Supply Drop, I notice per-shot recoil is pretty much the same whether you're shooting an MP5, M4, or M14. Is that a technical limitation, or an aspect which simply didn't get much community attention?

I recently downloaded Rainbow Six 3 and went through your step-by-step sequence posted here to get the modded version you play. However, after each step the previous gets undone. For example after I update to version 2.0 and install the ECT mod the 2.0 update is undone. Installing supply drop no longer makes ECT available in the custom section. Thoughts?

The fact that you don't see ECT in the custom game page is correct. ECT is actually a set of mods that run under supply drop so it's correct to have s.d. on the 'custom game' page.
2.0 is still installed because you overwrote vanilla files, it's not possible to reverse that, unless you reinstall completely. What can mess you up is if you decide to install any expansion after modding the game. That's why i state clearly that the expansions must go before everything else.
If you follow the instructions carefully and in the right order, u'll be fine.
