I used similiar system in my Putrefaction games, and what I can say is you still need modelling work to make a great dismemberment system and I wish I've done more. Truth is, yes, you can mask the moment of dismemberment with a lot of blood, but a lot of players will check the body after and see that there is no flesh or bones sticking out and be disappointed. I recommend atleast find some free bone/meat models and activate then in the place where the limb was originally, because just smooth spot looks weird
