...contructions part two!

I've had another more complex dream this morning. As I've described on my profile about a different dream of mine a while ago, it was another one on multiple levels. Kinda cool, as I was waiting for another one on a higher level and it didn't happen, but this morning it got me by surprise.

It had 3 levels, the last level was lucid, the second one wasn't and on the first level I was thinking about, whether it was real world or not and in the end I believed it was real world, although there was a big sign that should have convinced me that I was dreaming. I'm still thinking about techniques to fully control the content of a dream. Although I have lucid dreams, it's still really hard for me to take control of what is happening around me. I can control my movement, but I can't control my surroundings. The dream of today is a good example. My dream went like this:

Third level:
(1st dream I was in)
I can't remember where I was, as my memory faded through out the whole day already and I didn't take any notes, when I woke up. But, it was a lucid dream and I was trying to control the events in the dream. It didn't work out, but I can remember that I found some photos laying around and when I focussed hard enough on what was shown on the photo, the content of the photo became the new content of the dream. I couldn't change the content of the photos, though.

Second level: (2nd dream I was in)
I woke up somewhere and knew that I just had a dream, I wanted to go back into that dream and thought that I was in real world. Somehow, I managed to get back into dreaming, I don't remember how I did that.

Third level:
(3rd dream I was in)
The dream was in the same world as in the beginning and it was lucid, I changed stuff in the dream with photos, again.

Second level: (4th dream I was in)
I woke up again and knew that I had been dreaming, I thought again that I was in real life and I wanted to get back into the dream, which was successful.

Third level:
(5th dream I was in)
Same as before.

Second level:
(6th dream I was in)
I woke up for the third time and I got back into the third level for the last time.

Third level:
(7th dream I was in)
Things started to get really blurry and I was losing control, I can't remember, whether it was lucid or not.

Second level:
(8th dream I was in)
I woke up, I can't remember what happened.

First level:
(last dream I was in)
I woke up in my bed and I was really confused. I thought about, whether I'm in real life or not. I got out of my bed and walked through the house, feeling really dizzy. I can't remember everything, but a few people were there, congratulating me for my birthday (my real birthday is in September), it was a false fact, but I didn't notice it. After some time, I was in the kitchen and my father and my mother were sitting there. I felt really awkward, because something was really strange, I was thinking about acting all weird and doing crazy things, like I usually do in lucid dreams, but something was stopping me from it and I was then feeling that I was in real life.

After that, I woke up in reality and my first thought was: "This is reality, it's good that this feeling is so extreme, as I now know that I'm in reality for sure. It's astonishing how clear it is that I'm in reality right now. It's a little hard to describe the feeling I had. It was the exact opposite of what I was feeling, when I had my last complex dream before this one. When I woke up at that time, the feeling of being in a dream was still really present for about 10-20 seconds (it felt like minutes, but it probably wasn't). And this time I felt the presence of the real world really intense for a few seconds.I'm curious about how many levels deep a dream can become, but I think this is pretty much the end already. Or at least I hope so, because I'm starting to get worried and a little scared, because the confusion of not knowing, whether I'm in real life or not is really intense.

(Construction of depthlevel in the dream: 3-2-3-2-3-2-3-2-1-0)
It's also interesting that the length of each dream got shorter and shorter with each and every one of the dreams, except for the last one (first level), it was the longest.

stay tuned~

That method with photos is a nice one. Are these real ones (next to the bed, seen somewhere, etc.) or you imagined/created them inside dreams?

No, I don't have photos laying around in my real life. The place wasn't a place I know either, it was some kind of room and there were some polaroid photos laying around, I used those.
I tried to change what was shown on the photo, but it didn't work, I could only "get into" the photo by focussing hard enough on it.

You have ever tried to memorise a real photo (with all its details) just before going to bed, to dream about it later on?

I don't have any photos. But, I tried to think of a certain thing or event until I fell asleep, because I heard that you often dream about the things that you've thought about just the second before you fall asleep, but that only worked once and I think that it was a coincidence or rather due to a different reason.

I've learned other theories about what we dream and why, when I was learning how to interpret dreams. According to that, dreaming is all about our mind giving us information about solving problems that we currently face in real life subconciously. It makes sense for me, and the material is a lot deeper than that, it would be easier for me to chat about it via instant messaging rather than writing comments on this blog.

Although that doesn't mean that I don't appreciate your comments. You can still ask stuff here, but I probably won't give too detailled information on here, I simply prefer instant messaging.

That's quite fine, I ask here so others can have a look & insight into the discussion and info, and be able to criticise / fill it up if needed. :-)

Also, AFAIK, dreams are products of our collective memories/events during the day, but I find that hard to truly reliable, since some dreams seem to be purely imagined ones, and very loosely based on thoughts and events during previous hours or days.

PS If you have some interesting talks about dreaming on instant messengers, could you perhaps publish it here or on the lucid dreaming group (as a screenshot/article) if the person you talked to agrees?

Inception is definitely inspired by dreams like that. I didn't know that was possible until I had those dreams. But, dream interpretation has a good explanation for dreams like that.
