DOOM 64 Absolution TC Remastered

Mod review

This is a great way to keep history alive! The classic additions of Absolution TC with the accuracy of modern ports.

DOOM CE

Mod review

A very impressive port combining classic lighting and modern lighting for a very moody depiction of Midway's Doom games. Plus there is so much custom content included!

Brutal Doom 64

Mod review

I love what the current (early) forms of the mod has done. The lighting effects enhance the moodiness and isolation in what the N64 port was aiming for.

Some fans of brutal doom want to see fatalities and have even made a new trailer with the Doom 4 soundtrack. I think this action oriented direction is not what the original N64 game was about. It would emasculate the demons in my opinion. I think the player should feel like they don't belong in their world and that they aren't meant to survive. This is probably why many people were complaining that the hard difficulties were too hard.

I think with horror style games, the player needs some glimpses of helplessness, so I hope the mod continues the course it began. If a player wants to feel like a god, I don't think any mod of old doom games would beat what Doom 4 has done.
