If you play Battlefront 2 campaign, you will learn that the Resistance knew exactly what to do to destroy the Dreadnought, and in the beginning of the The Last Jedi you can see that Poe knows exactly what he is doing, he even knows how many canons the Dreadnought has. I was not a thing of one x-wing, it was a thing of knowing weak points.
