Half-Life: Downlink

Mod review

I gotta be honest. I didn't know what to expect when playing the opposite version of Uplink. The first half is to be expected going to the same route but with custom voice acting. The second half, however, I did not expect going for a horror route when you go deeper underground. Overall, old school style mapping makes you feel nostalgic and I had a good time for a moment.

Raising the Bar: Salvation

Mod review

Finally got my hands on playing as Father Grigori to escape Ravenholm with his new weapons while learning some backstory. It is a little difficult at times but I managed mostly. Overall, I enjoyed the sermon.

Hobo Life: Greg's Christmas

Mod review

The Hobo is back once again finding crack as per usual. Definitely the best Christmas present I've ever gotten.

The Thing Remaster

Mod review

Whilst not played the original mod, the remastered version is actually not that bad. The vehicle is almost useless, however.

Half-Life: Memory

Mod review

Basic and mediocre. That's all I can say about this "mod". "Solved the problem" my ***.

Half-Life: The World Machine

Mod review

This is a fine piece of work this mod has. It's also the loudest (which gets a little annoying at times). The visuals are unique; something that you don't see in Black Mesa and instead of going to the surface, you're going deeper down with a clear objective in mind. It gets challenging as it goes along which makes it pretty fun. Overall, it's a spectacle from start to finish.

Slimy Situation

Mod review

I can see why this won first place from the competition. A classic HL gameplay with scripted sequences and the use of goop hit all the right notes. Overall, I had a good time with this one.

This mod is too short for my liking. I honestly would've expected more but at least it's better than Memories of Bob. Ugh.

DISREPAIR

Mod review

Despite the mod being short, it is an interesting experience going through Black Mesa with a faulty flashlight and some dev textures just for a simple task.

Entropy : Zero - Uprising

Early access mod review may contain spoilers

"Don't drink the water! They put something in it to make you forget!" - Random Citizen

That's pretty much of gist of this mod as this marks the new era of EZ mods. With that said, this mod is surprisingly darker than the rest as they're two endings which determines outcome of your protagonist's storyline. It starts off slow but then it gets better as it goes along. The APC battle is definitely the highlight and this is just Episode 1. Makes me wonder how Episode 2 will up the ante.

P.S. I made a video that I discovered first-hand an easter egg. This contains spoilers so watch it at your own risk.
