Only first person will be supported at release, although you can always toggle and there will be some player animations, so I guess in theory you could make a third person mod fairly easily.

The game itself might be outdated, but you'll be seeing the engine around for a couple of years yet in games like Prey, Quake Wars, RTCW2 and others. And besides, it's guaranteed to be released eventually, and open source is one of the many goals of this project.

But I'm back now.

And there's serious news. It has been revealed that Ion Storm are working to attempt to release the Thief 3 editor to the community.

Doesn't this make our mod redundant? Well, no. It doesn't. And we're not going to stop.

For a start, there is still only a chance that the editor for T3 will see light (albeit a bigger chance than before). Additionally, there are reasons for which ourselves and others would like to see this mod to completion; we believe that Doom 3 offers a better engine and wider audience (as well as platform advantages). We also believe that we can offer a more original, traditional and more customisable interface than Thief 3.

We're not going into competition: rather, we're going slightly off the beaten track. But it will all be good. And of course, there'll still be our awe-inspiring campaign to follow.

Mansion textures V3 is in development, screens soon...not enough for a news post but hey, I'm excited.
