Just to let you know, the song I previously used was:
***** Black Eye Peas - Imma Be
Here are a couple of reasons:
1. I just started animating for the first time last month, I will get faster as time goes on.
2. When key-framing, you become one with the characters movements, meaning each and every movement you make will project you're own emotions as an artist.
3. Encore! will eventually have cinematic sequences, if mo-cap was going to be our prime method all of our characters are just going to look plain silly.
Animation is time consuming, but just imagine being able to control each and every movement of the characters you love.
I previously used Black Eye Peas - Imma Be, which was completely random and irrelevant from the video haha
now it's piazzolla suits
LOL! You guys are a hoot -- I wanted to put a random song that doesn't relate to classical music! I updated it to something more -- Suitable. =) Enjoy
1.) It's a rough sketch of a an idea.
2.) Animation production at this magnitude takes weeks of planning, months of production and post production.
3.) Thanks for your honestly, I'll refrain from sharing any sketched out animation that will harm the image of Encore.
Erika - The violinst, will in fact be the main player of Encore's Demo. She will be a full fledged playable character just in time for Dream Build Play of 2010. Thank you for showing this video, because this video is going to be the reason why Erika is going to be the most sophisticated and aspiring main character in all the history of main female video game characters.
Waaaay ahead of ya =D we got trombones, trumpets, etc etc etc - hell we even have triangles!!!
couldn't hurt. if you email jobs@encoregame.com with your resume` and portfolio we might be able to see what we can do.
Keep an eye out =) because there WILL be a disc jockey!
thanks for your support and kind words nullsoldier!
and I agree with you! managed code requires a high degree of sophisticated planning and pipeline management =)
yeah I agree, brutal legend is probably the first thing people will think of when they see this game. But once the player delves into the battle mechanics and the story-line, I am quite confident that Encore! will be able to distinguish itself as a unique game =) Thank you for your support!
I am aiming for xbox. But I am also aiming for steam and PSN (might be a long shot).
yes the production is rolling faster than ever. However, we are keeping things in the hush until the entire production is closer to being more complete. But for now, keep an eye out. Encoregame.com
I would like to keep the main characters down to four. We have two female (guitar, violin) characters. Now its time for two males characters. I honestly wanted a cello badly but the animation, and attacks would be awkward since the cello is such a massive instrument. However, if you think other wise on why a cello would be good, please email me at roderick@ethereal-muse.com and tell me why it's a good idea =p
if you are still having problems please email me at roderick@ethereal-muse.com
Using the guitar as a weapon is a similar concept, but hardly the same game play or even genre. I see what you mean how he used the guitar and lightning bolts came out, I was a bit nervous myself. But as I thought about it more its hardly similar to Encore. The fact that this is a side-scrolling video game for the indie market we are still in a different ball game than BrĂ¼tal Legend.
I do agree with all of you in regards of Erika's face. In all different angles Erika looks very appealing and beautiful -- except for this one. BlackBamboo is going to do their best in a way which would seem more appealing and maybe down the line i'll have my modelers rework the face so that specific angle looks better.
I appreciate your kind words! As for your question, the graphic designer is a young studio like EthMuse and the name of this studio is BlackBamboo.
All the assets were provided by EtherealMuse but BlackBamboo did a phenominal job beautifying it and making them all come into harmony. The founder of BlackBamboo found us on concept art and we were able to come to a fair collaboration on how he could help market the game for a fair compensation.
Thank you BlackBambooStudios and I am excited for everyone to see the up and coming work you guys are going to be creating!
Indie Games: From Buzz to Business was a very useful session =) There were a lot of good summits that was worth every penny. Hope your enjoying GDC as much as I am =D
gread modcast ModDB! Keep it up! Don't stop doing the great things you've doing for us!!!
Thanks for all of your support! I am going to be exposing a lot more material very very soon!
I am meeting up with Ryan Anderson executive editor of moddb tomorrow @ GDC. I may decide to put up a prototype version exclusively to moddb's site. I have a feeling that this demo will be an ongoing project UNTIL the battle mechanics are completely polished.
The demo is not completely finished yet. Such as environment, lighting, particle effects and battle mechanics.
Navigating through streets is something I can definitely consider. I had an idea for co-op gaming. Where players could change levels or go separate ways (down, up, or turning an intersection). If it was a local co-op making the game split screen. What do you think?
According to my game design document, melee attacks are 20% of the battle mechanics. Melee attacks are often much faster to land than playing Onate` as a weapon. I would like to create a balanced system where the player must learn to block, attack, and play the instrument depending on appropriate timing. Playing the instrument as a weapon is much stronger than a melee attack.
I took a picture of it from the tv =)
you will see, its part of the story =)
If thats what you want I can do that for you! =)
Mc_Intire I appreciate your honesty and opinion on my decision to make this game a sidescroller. But there are a few reasons why.
1. multiplayer and unlockable content for co-op and versus mode
2. Casual gaming
3. budget - I am a 23 year old entrepreneur funding this game and trying to make the most out of a great concept. If this should ever turn out to be a successful first product for my company then Encore! wont be the last game I'll be producing.
