LOL.

It doesn't matter to me what your mod looks like, hell, I love FC1. Im just saying that they look REALLY similar in shade, which could indicate just slight tweaks to the original geom... which would be illegal.

Also the past history of this mod doesnt really help the case :/

It doesn't take a genius to see your new "crysis inspired" models are just the Crysis models with a slight geom tweak. For this mod to be legal, you gotta make it from SCRATCH. Aka open up your model program and hit file -> new. Same goes for the texture, that is clearly the same.

It doesnt matter what anyone says. What you think. Etc.

Crytek has said DO NOT take their models into Far Cry, and DO NOT take Far Cry models into Crysis. They don't want to get sued, and they CAN shut you down (it has happened).

Now that the models / porting thing is cleared up your mod wont get so much negative input from others. I'll probably be trying it out when its done.

Just because others did it and got away, doesnt mean its OK. For example, I have attempted re-making some of the FC mp maps in crysis. How? By opening both editors and doing my best to manually replicate the stuff in Far Cry with the stuff in Crysis (terrain is painful).

Although the assets are the same, its mainly so that user-created mods made in the original Crysis could me moved to the newer editor / engine, and get them to a larger audience. A very nice move by Crytek.

However, if you were to just copy + paste the levels you would need to do a lot more than just to level folders. Things like the dialog are missing, as well as the mission goals - basically making it unplayable.

However, even in that state Crytek would shut down a mod that was bringing the original Crysis to Warhead / Wars.

Crytek cant make up the minds of Ubisoft. Basically the only reason they made Far Cry 2 was because Crytek made a good game and thrived without them, and Ubisoft wanted to show that they could do the same.

Also, using Crysis assets in Warhead / Wars is NOT the same. Firstly, 99.999% of the assets in Crysis come in the wars install, so they've given you the assets - no ripping required.

Secondly, both those games are owned by Crytek / EA, and use the same engine. You're basically taking from Crytek and putting it back in Crytek. To them it doesnt really matter. Like I said, they gave you the assets in Wars so you DONT need to port stuff.

Thirdly, making a mod LIKE another game is completely different that taking assets and redistributing them for free. There are Far Cry / Far Cry 2 mods in Cryengine 2 that basically try to emulate another game using user-created stuff. If this mod used user-created stuff INSTEAD of stuff from Crytek, everyone would be fine with it. However, ripping assets and redistributing them for free is against the EULA that you had to click "agree" to upon installing the game.

Lastly, a Crytek Employee posted on both the Crysis crymod AND the Far Cry crymod saying that its NOT ok to take assets from one game and put them in the other. They would rather NOT get sued.

And yes, they CAN send you a cease and desist, and if you choose to ignore it they CAN take legal action.

Yea yea ripping assets is bad. But it looks like there's some other stuff going on, other than just adding assets. Namely higher rez textures and ToD.

And yes, I have tried making assets. Im no pro, but I do use Cinema 4D every now and then ;)

Yes, as you can see that thread was closed and your mod is now under investigation. I would recommend acting quickly, before your otherwise impressive mod gets shut down.

Unfortunately ripping assets its not accepted by Crytek or Crymod.com - there is a thread on Crymod.com (http://www.crymod.com/thread.php?postid=735170#post735170) about your mod. I would recommend removing / replacing any and all content that is from any Crytek game (that is not Far Cry 1).

I hate to rain on your parade, the mod looks awesome, but it appears that some of the assets are taken from Crysis. I could be mistaken, but if this is the case, I would recommend not using them. FC is now owned by Ubi and not Crytek, so they might see this as 'ripping assets' which never ends well.

Like I said, I may be mistaken, but it would be nice if you could clarify it.

For the installation of the mod, we will probably package it with a .exe installer. However, for Crysis its fairly simple. Drag and drop the mod folder into C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis Wars\Mods.

For the length of development, this mod has been around in some insanely early stage for around 11 or so months - but this was basically just the terrain. When I teamed up with Megaqgzqgz, we started actually working on it. That was around 8 months ago.

Hey, love the mod, but I have a possible bug report:

The Panzer Elite BergeTiger cannot recover ANYTHING - Its basically an armoured pioneer squad (recover for muni + repair), however the description says "recovers vehichles".

IMO it should be returned to be able to salvage wrecks to working like in normal CoH.

Dont worry, we're working on optimizing the level. Currently the poly count is about equal to a lighter level of Crysis, so the performance should be fairly good.

Basically this mod will run as well as crysis does on your machine, if not a bit better.

Yes, as stated on the main page, we are using the Exodus Tree Pack. It allows us to do a MUCH more realistic job in creating a forest, as it would be a little strange playing in a palm tree forest...

Although in the video the player character has a nanosuit, the final version will NOT have the nanosuit available by default. When the game starts, the player will be in some standard armor / vest type gear, which will esentially reduce damage from bullets, but nothing more.

As the game progresses, you'll be able to unlock / buy / get better armour, and possibly a suit with a few of the powers from the nanosuit. Due to the fact that we are trying for a more realistic aproach, a super-suit with cloak, strength, speed and armour would be rather over powered. However, a single ability, such as cloak, matched with less-than-normal armour, or strength with less-than normal speed would balance this out.

Keep in mind, its still in development, so specifics on armour / items are still under development / secret :P

There will be custom hands depending on the armor / suit you are wearing, and there will be weapons added to the exists Crysis library. Certain Crysis weapons, such as the alien weapons, may not be availble (we are undecided).

This a screenshot from 2006/2007 of the animation system used in Crysis 1. Its basically a system in which the engine adapts pre-made animations to fit the surrounding. For example the angle of the feet would change depending on angle of the ground, etc.

Can SOMEONE please remove "iPhone" from the supported platforms? Crytek has said that it ONLY runs on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, with NO mention of the iPhone. The video which may have caused this issue is an on-live demo of Crysis running on the iPhone. However, this actually works by streaming data from a PC to the iPhone, NOT by actually rendering the game on the iPhone.

Yes, there will be some crazy stuff, like mutants, "zombies" (not the traditional type ;) ) and of course your usual soldiers / guys with guns. And yea,STALKER 2 with CEx (x=2 or 3 or whatever) would be EPIC, but yea, probably wont be a giant map like our mod :D

Also, there IS a news post comming, but its await authorization.
