where did you get the insight that 'they'r working their *** off'? it sure doesnt seem like this here, does it? look at other mods, where the modders are still dedicated to present results of some kind.
and here? lol...'will be released very soon' lolol....then 'beta is coming soon' and from then on...DEAD.
last info i remember, practically only two ppl are left doing this mod and those are not very motivated either, cause they just dont play stalker anymore.
and even if im misinformed, SMP sure doesnt seem to be 'alive' compared to all the other mods you have listed.
SMP community is shrinking and at the end no one will be there hearing when the tree is falling.

No one forced them to do this mod, to set a page on moddb and to make an announcement "Will be released very soon.." for it, which no one bothers even to update.

And please stop with this cheap argument 'not to get payed' As if everything in this world only depends on this and nothing else.

Im not getting payed f...ing my wife either and neither is she, but we still do it, because we love it ;)

And now guess what the problem is, when the day comes we stop doing it.
Either its age or loss of passion!

Think about it and pull your brown head out! Luzifer.

This is a brilliant idea!

And the survival gear would come with some weight too, cause f.ex. the enemy-counter would be like a little motion/heartbeat scanner maybe, the ammo counter some sophisticated weapon attachement and so on.

But anyway...ill be happy with LA in any case =)

Awesome, just awesome! =)

Now just a little thing...the enemy-counter. It takes away a lot of tension instead when you dont know if there is maybe one last bloke hiding and waiting for you zooming around carelessly :D

Im sure it can me modded out quite easily, but just felt to mention it. Im a HUD-minimalist and for my taste id remove the whole mini-map feature and just leave a tiny health and sprint bar, instead of these huge blocks blocking the nice view (and reminding me its a game hehe)
Further no ammo counter and other blinking effects.
And if you want to know where you are, youd'd have to open the PDA map which will then block your view as it would in real. BTW thats how i played CoP with Ceanos-mod.
O:-)

Keep it up!

"Will be released very soon..."

This stands there now for 2 years! This with all the in-between statements from wolfe, indicates that there is a v-e-r-y big problem going on with 2.5.

The foremost of these is the truth-denial...instead of at least updating the header to a more appropriate statement so people dont expect a release...well...very soon.

It seems clear the SMP mod-team, if it even still exists, is hopelessly overloaded.

This "we are not professionals" or "we dont get money" blabla is the no1 excuse for amateurs who need to give a 'reason' for their fading passion and dedication for their project...and its the first sign of the death of it.
Either you do it or leave it...either you are obsessive with your project and get results or you just fiddle around, with no end in sight and get frustration inside the mod-team and outside, on the comm-forums.

Realize that things are going -ill say it most neutral- not as planned (?) and admit it to the waiting and shrinking stalker community and dont keep pretending otherwise....for that little more fame or whatever the reason is this mod-page is still active.

I dont think this mod will see a release anymore.
And if in hundred years, you'll need an emulator to simulate the outdated OS and i doubt i will be interested in replaying stalker at that time, because stalker 2 will blow it away ;-)

Black Mesa-category it seems

So whats the plan? Postpone a release every year so the mod gets outdated, just to rework everything for another year until its outdated again? Because the overall purpose of this mod claims to be an updated graphics experience, isnt it?
Sisyphus' life is a walk in a park compared to this...
(And the last update is from 2009?!? Did someone even consider to report this mod as dead?)

Quadrillions of weapons and i bet there's no decent crossbow with explosive warhead in sight...now that would be something to play with...

keep it up :)

What i missed in all of the Stalker-series so far are highly radiated zones. Not just rusty vehicles or a room, but actually an area which requires you to have the best radioactive protection plus anti-rads plus artefacts and those anti-rad-pills...and of course vodka :D
I just remember two spots in SoC where this occured in a way i mean: between garbage and dark valley (i hope i dont mix the names wrong) and a room in the NPP (where you could find armor).
But for a zone where a nuclear meltdown happened it was a bit strange to walk near NPP and your geiger fell asleep.
Anyway...LA will be nice, whatever radiation will come =)

I remeber i did change those soundfiles after i heard the loop for the 3rd time.

the idea is nice, but the repetition is a bit annoying :)

thanks for the little insight

now i can lean back instead of hoping it may be released 'tomorrow' what i was hoping for since december announcements.

there seems to be still -a lot- to do with 2.5...so see you in a few months and yeah take your time...i mean...its your success ;)

wait...they started testing in january?

and do they know the difference between 'testing' and 'adding new content and bugs'?

so since december they are....finalizing? or what. does 2.5 even exist? ;P

ow ow...january passed (again) and another year will, if SmP team actually stops adding new content and wonder about engine limitations.

stop aiming for perfection because you wont...especially with x-ray.
you'll always have unforseen 'bugs'. most of them wont be found anyway on just a couple of rigs for beta-beta-beta testing. learn from GSC...and do a 'public testing, a.k. release :D

dont get me wrong...i loved 2.4 and im curious about 2.5.
but you guys should learn to make a code freeze and actually test this and...release that crap and patch it then for heavens sake...its not the holy grail and youll have a better 2.5 for -everyone- at the end.

(next time i'll try hypnosis...'releaaaase EsEmmmPeeee.....nauuuuuu!"

;P :D

for the load limit problem id suggest something like a 'light' version of SMP2.5 where you cut out some weapons and other stuff. Or maybe the other way round...a stable basic version with an enhancing patch...
i know there are many around who like tons of weapons...but not all...i guess. so there is a sort of compromise.

anyway...keep it up :)

"Closed beta version 2.5 Will be released very soon we are busy testing it and adding new content" ---aah now i get it...you have to understand the paradox in this sentence, then grasp the truth: its a never-ending story! xD söÖn *need-2.5-play-now* 8]

dont you get it, this mod will be released 'VERY SOON'.....just some testing and adding babe with big titties xD Then beta, then testing, then adding new stuff to test, which will be released then very soon....to add new content which we will test for the release...guess what...very söööön xD

Hey, i didnt ask to be "faster", which would be ridiculous to ask a modder for such, or "when", "where", "what".... nooohohoho...i will wait, wait wait 8]
IMO dont spend time for a patch, make a nice clean 2.5, so nobody gets confused O:-)

Mmhh...no blowouts in LURK is a major cut-out of a nice gameplay feature and not the include it as an option for "philosopical reasons" seems just to be an excuse for the real reason and i dislike such political attitudes ;D
My bet is...technical problems, especially after the "funtional compatible code" comment, which may be the exact opposite of the facts.

Anyway...if all fits into a nice modded game, im always in as i like the more minimalistic approach of LURK compared to other mods which mostly are stuffed with distracting crap.

So...release it and we'll see =)
