According to the log you installed the mod on Anomaly update 4. YAWM 2.1 is not compatible with update 4. If you want to use YAWM on update 4 use version 2.0 located here: Moddb.com
Yes, this is compatible with old saves. As a general rule mods that only modify textures will not affect your saves in any way. As for installation you are correct, just extract to your root Anomaly folder, overwriting any old version of the mod and for update 4 just replace "Simple Autumn Retexture - textures_detail.db" in "db\addons" with the one from google drive linked in the description.
Yes it's right here: Moddb.com
When it's not snowing performance should be the same as vanilla Anomaly. When it is snowing performance may drop. How much it drops depends on your PC. I have a Ryzen 2700X and Vega 64 and I lose about 15 FPS with heavy snowfall, however my framerate actually goes up in medium and light snowfall due to the shorter view distance. Though I've also gotten reports from people with more powerful PCs than mine getting significantly worse performance than I do so your mileage may vary.
What were you doing in game when this happened? Also if you have a save where this crash consistently happens send it to me as it might help me figure out why it's crashing.
This issue should hopefully be fixed with the 1.1 update I just put out.
No. For update 4 use this version: Moddb.com
They both change foliage and ground textures, so no. One will overwrite the other and if you overwrite YAWM with this it will look strange as some things will be snowy and some won't.
I highly doubt it. It's still rendering the same number of polygons and textures, the only difference is what the textures look like.
Just uploaded the no leaves version as a separate addon. Moddb.com
I use those mods myself. There is no conflict.
I actually agree especially with the orange trees. I'm gonna work on it some more tomorrow.
I'm thinking about making a version with no leaves. I'm gonna put it together tomorrow and see how it looks. As for the saturation, I think I'm going to tone it down just a little, though I do still want it to be somewhat vibrant. It also shouldn't be too hard to significantly desaturate the textures and put it up as an alternate version.
On my Ryzen 2700X I have 12 threads maxed out during snowfall but I'm almost always above 60FPS with no stutters. In fact I have noticed even during Psi-Storms in vanilla Anomaly several cores will max out. It seems that large numbers of particles spawning for extended periods of time cause huge amounts of CPU usage. I feel it would take engine level modifications to change that. At any rate I will still try to make an even lighter version to see if I can alleviate the issue somewhat.
I will try to make a lighter version however the way the snowfall works (by spawning particles around the player) will always have some level of performance impact. The only thing that can be done besides lowing the number of particles is some form of optimization in the engine itself(which I am not capable of doing).
Done. Drive.google.com
Use AXR Toolset Github.com to unpack the db files. The reason they're in db files is for compression. The unpacked mod is 12 GB, compressing them in the db archives lowers the size to 2 GB. It already takes me almost an hour to upload 2 GB so I really don't want to spend 6+ hours uploading the full 12. Also ModDB has a file size limit of 8 GB for addons so I would have to upload it somewhere else. In short because of the large file size uploading the unpacked mod is a big hassle I don't want to deal with (but AXR Toolset should work to unpack it yourself).
Running the script with the console won't work, getting errors is normal if you try that. The script automatically gets loaded and starts running when you load into a game. Could you load into a game were it should be snowing and then quit anomaly and send me the log file? It's in appdata\logs in your main Anomaly folder. Also post the log on Pastebin.com and post the link instead of directly in the comments as it makes the log much easier to read.
Did you make sure to copy the version of "yawm_snowfall.script" you want (heavy or light) from the snowfall choices folder to your gamedata\scripts folder?
I actually just found the problem. It's the texture compression. It absolutely butchers the texture quality. The ground textures are gonna be uncompressed in the next update. The only downside is that file size of the mod will be a bit bigger. Also I'm gonna reduce the resolution of the ground textures from 4k to 2k to save space, but don't worry as a 2k texture without compression in this case looks significantly better than a 4k texture with compression.
I'll look into muting the insect sounds, hopefully I'll add that to the next update.
I'll add a light version of the snowfall to the next update.
I'll whip up a very light version of the snowfall and add it to the next update.
What's your CPU? I've noticed that particles in stalker put much more strain on the CPU than the GPU. As for performance without snowfall, the majority of the textures are just edited versions of the ones Anomaly comes with, so performance should be comparable with base Anomaly. Now the snowfall script is always running to check what weather it currently is, so if you want to see if the script is causing problems you can delete yawm_snowfall.script in gamedata\scripts and see if your performance improves.
The newest update should fix the snowfall inside buildings. Let me know if it doesn't.
Now that you mention this I also notice the same thing. Not sure what's causing it but I'll look into it. No promises though. Also I just put out an update that includes a compatibility patch for Particles Remade.
The snow should fall a bit slower with the update I just put out. Let me know if you still think it's too fast.
I just updated the mod with a compatibility patch. Also a new game is NOT required. As for conflicts, anything that alters particles or environment textures will not be compatible, as well as anything that alters w_storm1.ltx and w_storm2.ltx in gamedata\configs\environment\weathers.
The particles.xr files need to be merged in the particle editor. I'm pretty sure I know how to do it so I'll put out a patch in a day or two. Stay tuned!
