you are completley missing the point. i didnt say you were a bad artist, the point is you make a thread with a picture of yourself holding some boxed copies of 3ds max with the title 'Real artists use real orginal softwares'. its not about the software that you buy, real artits who have an undying pasion for what they do will find any way possible to do what they love, wether its through buying the tools they need or just downlaoding them.
real artits dont need to buy expensive tools to prove they are artists.

what is the point in this thread? the creater is either trolling or just plain stupid, nobody cares if you bought your sofware legally, it doesnt make you a good artist.
if anything for trying to flount the fact you have 'legit' copies of software, most people now think you just a douche.

ok i get that and fair enough, i have seen my fair share of cartoon shaders, BUT; it doesnt atm really look like its 3D so to speak.

what would really help is 3/4 view, so we can see whats what in terms of 3D. as for your toon shader, its great, as it looks fully like the dude from the anime (i do apologise, i foget his name)/ but yer, agian, from this fornt view, there is very little to sugesting this is not done in paint.

very lovely stuff, like really (really really :)), but some diretion of what your going for ide really like, just to give it more background. (as alot of pple can add the spikes you have, but not alot of people can add the anatomy you have.

i dnt really like the render, but i love the tank and deatils. the details in the model look great. but all i mean is the render is very monotone. Cus some better lighting would add soooo much, may i ask what 3D app you are using? as some AO would make yout render look alot nicer.

honestly, i dont think you want to know, because if you did, you would never bleive this will be bceome a finsihed project. but we know that with us it will, its a labour of love, and we have the skills we need. HOWEVER, we also understand that there may come a time where what we need just cant be done with the people we have, And when that time comes we will reach out to the comminty and hope that the guys and girls we might need will answer our calls and join us. :)

ok a couple fo things, i appriciate all comments, but please read preivous comments before posting about adding details ;) 'sub-D mesh that ill be putting through z-brush for details :)'

second thing, i really dont get what you mean by 'She have boobs, but her rib cage is smaller than them.'? are you sugesting that she should have bigger breasts? or are you sugesting that her rib cage should be wider? cus i think you will find womens hips are wider than the ribcage.

also i strongly disagree about this comment 'you'll be using UDK for nothing if you're going into such few detailed models' have you looked at some of the games people have made in the UDK showcase on thier website? (http://udk.com/showcase). some of them do not even use normal maps, and they look fantastic, not everything is about having 100's of normal maps. not the mention the fact that is a free engine to develop until if and when a game is made commercaily viable and it has great user support. so using UDK for no reason? i dont think so ;)

that all said i go back to my first point lol, i did say before this wasnt done and details for things like the normal maps were going to be done in z-brush.

and on a side note i am the rigger, and reposing a Biped from max and using that as a new defualt skeliton for a project is hardly what you would call infuriating.

kiory agins wins the cooky, this IS the UT3 or UDK pose, its the basic relaxed pose in wich the most possible actions are possible under the least strain (as in the skin 'hopfully' wont be stretched tooo much in rigging).

this is not a playable character, so cusotmization isnt really on the cards. she is one of a set of creatures you can summon to fight for you. the details are on the game page.
and black dragon, this isnt the game mesh, this is sub-D mesh that ill be putting through z-brush for details :)
thanks for the feed back though, it seems most people are leaning towards teh hood atm which is quite interesting.

lol no worries mate, i think its always kinda risky posting work based on stuff that has such large pasionate fan bases like MGS, so many people played and loved the games that they each know in thier head what it is to them, so stuff that differs form thier own visions can become really out of place.

maybe i can clear things up a bit lol, there are actually 100's of designs for rex all over the internet. you are correct Kiory that is not an accurate representaion of the original rex from MGS1 but i did not claim it was :)

my rex is mainly a mixture of alot of differnt refernces i could find at the time it was made. i was not trying to emulate the original as it is hugley differnt when you actually look at the orignal (sloped head, longer jaw ect).
as for the mass produced aspect, i had not made it with this in mind whilst i was making, it was more when i decided to put him into a large scene that i decided it would be cool to have more than one of them.

maybe i should i have specified that it was not ment to be a replica. so instead of original rex, think of it as 'rex MK-3' appricaite the comments though guys, cheers.

fair enough, i was going for more gramatical correctnes in this case, plus that font doesnt have a full set of both capitals and lower case.
i tihnk you have a good point about the news thing, but i tihnk its also quite a good way to keep poeple interested, as it is still news ;)
maybe for big news post we will have some giant differnt banner.

ummmm....nightwolf63....there are no textures on those meshes...they are screenshots of high poly meshes taken from within z-brush.
you can see bullsquid texture in the fist media update.
