The Hard Core Tactical Mod 2 still leaves much to be desired. A total of 30 unique levels in the original campaign with different maps and designs sure beats playing several repetitive missions. The HCTM is the textbook example of quantity, not quality. It's sad because I know the creator worked on it for several years.

So, what about it is good? Well, it's the only Call of Duty 2 mod in existence that has a grenade throwback feature. Not to mention, the sprint animation is the best you could ask for. I also like using binoculars to call in air strikes and using the flamethrower. This is all really neat.

However, the weapon models in Back2Fronts blows the HCTM designs out of the water. It's a big shame. I've always thought the perfect Call of Duty 2 experience would be combining the Merciless Metador mod together with Back2Fronts and the "cod2 realistic weapon sounds" mods.

For a mod that is centered on realism, the weapons don't sound as real. They should sound loud and overwhelming. When combined with the repetitive map layouts, this raises the question: why not combine Back2Fronts, Bloodthirsty and cod2 realistic weapon sounds mods together? Boom, there you go! It's already a funner experience.

With my idea, all that's missing is the grenade throwback addition and a better sprint animation. This is a superior Call of Duty 2 game with my ideas alone. Forget about adding levels. Just work on improving the gameplay. The two German levels featured in Back2Fronts are all that was necessary. At least those custom levels are new and decent.

In conclusion, the horrible customization (or lack there of) is also bringing down this mod's potential. The HUD cannot be altered. I prefer to see blood when I get shot, not a black screen. Plus, when playing on the higher difficulties, there is no enjoyment out of not knowing how much ammo you have. If you get a bad checkpoint and you're in an awful spot with low ammo, it's game over.
