Mordor definitely plays differently than the other factions, you need to be spamming the free orcs right from the beginning to harrass your enemies while spending your resources on heroes and elite units to support them. While other factions may attempt to get as many resource buildings up quickly, mordor has to start producing free orcs as quickly as possible to control the flow of combat. You can't just sit back and "turtle" against the ai waiting to pull out your top heroes like you can with some other factions.

Gondor just feels overly complicated to me in this version ... things that should be simple seem to take an extra 3 or 4 steps?

I played a few more games with both Lothlorien and Imladris and I felt their ai perfomance ranged greatly depending on the map. On some maps Imladris did almost nothing ... Overall both elven factions did pretty well if they weren't harrassed early, but early harrassment really set them back and the ai usually couldn't overcome it.

I'm afraid I don't have a youtube channel ... must be a different chris. :)
And Gondor just feels overly complicated, things that should be simple just have become a lot harder.

Agreed, Rohan has become far and away the strongest "good" ai faction whereas both elven factions just can't seem to keep up or defend themselves effectively without help.

I've played Gondor a few times now since the last patch and I agree. The last time I got the signal fire just to recruit Aragorn and then I quickly destroyed it to build a farm. While I absolutely see the logic behind the new signal fire, the time it takes to get anything from it just doesn't seem to make it worth it in most games?

It has been a really long time since I played this game ... but I beat the "boss Base" a couple times by using as many Commando infantry as it would allow, and then sending units out through the base 1 at a time. Trying to manage more than 1 unit at a time is useless because the path finding is so terrible.

But by micro managing 1 unit at a time inside the base, each time getting a little further through the maze and killing as many units as you can, you will eventually get a guy to the center of the base. Once you get to the center you place some sort of bomb/mine on some sort of "power structure looking thing" and it will blow up.

I don't know what it's like in the second system Base, because I have never played more than a couple planets into the second system before being too bored with the game to continue.
