(Here is A LOT of text about WH40k and tech details for a specific computer game, so you may not find this understandable or really interesting)

Several years ago I tried modding Dawn of War (specifically, the Soulstorm expansion pack). My smaller goal was to tweak some units in some mods to better fit my taste and to see how some of my interesting and/or funny concepts work. The bigger goal was to add Renegade Guard forces to the Ultimate Apocalypse mod or at least give this faction more credit in some way (I think it is quite underrated overall and not represented enjoyably in WH40k-related computer games). I didn't really imagine my mods being released in public.

As far as I remember, this is played in Ultimate Apocalypse mod or Codex mod.

There are two unit types engaged in melee combat

The first one is Renegade Guard unit called "Marauders". I've borrowed the name from a unit listed in the WH40k tabletop Lost and the Damned fan codex, though they are not really similar units apart from the name.

Stats-wise they are guardsman-tier Chaos Cultists from DoW: they combine the better training and equipment (=higher accuracy stats and damage, more heavy weapon choices at the expense of smaller numbers and higher price) of Guardsmen with better melee skils and damage and fanatical zeal and invisibility detector (at the expense of being more reckless represented by smaller individual health and less ranged damage) of Cultists. I intended them to be a melee-oriented alternative to the basic Guardsmen also spawned in the barracks (if the basic infantry is Conscripts) or a better Guardsman-tier unit (if the basic infantry is Guardsmen).

Design wise they have a tweaked, less wimpy model of vanilla cultist (I forgot who is the author, but I greatly thank him for it). Their voice pack is composed of some quotes of "Chaos Heretic" from DoW 2.

Lore-wise they are the more fanatical and devout Chaos-worshippers among the general renegade ranks, who choose to be in the frontline and massacre the enemies of Chaos in close combat. Often have above-average knowledge of Chaos and Chaos-affiliated rituals. More often than not they have longer combat experience than your average renegade guarsman.

The second unit is Imperial Guard conscripts. Their stats are similar to the ones in Ultimate Apocalypse, maybe they are a bit more sturdy and more numerous at the expense of accuracy and damage. They are the same as they are in the lore.

Here you can see a 10-men squad of Marauders slaughter an 18-men Imperial Guard conscript platoon without any casualties and meeting any serious resistance. Both squads have no leaders or heavy weapons and have maximum squad number allowed at the very start of the game (as far as I remember).
