Easier to install it through Vortex. That's what I did and I didn't have any problems with it.

Follow up. I was able to get through Hell, but I ended up using GOD mode from the Cheat Terminal. There were way too many enemies and the 10 mm you get at the beginning just doesn't cut it against the shear number of bad guys. I'm not complaining - i genuinely loved what the mod author did with this. And Hell is an interesting area to explore. But I highly recommend you DO NOT use AGONY as a mod since the stim packs will not recover your limbs.

Just an FYI, I downloaded the latest version, and I am able to keep the Silver Shroud costume (I haven't done that quest yet) and I was able to take my follower into Hell with me.
