I'm just a simple peasant that loves to play video games, look and try out mods and that I just do life's work. Now I have to tend to the field, for it is almost harvesting season! If I don't return, then they'll drink from my skull...

Fires of War: A Greco-Persian war mod

Mod review

This mod is probably one of my favorites for M&B Warband. Taking place during the war between the Greeks and the Persians, this mod allows you to experience what it is like during the time. Want to join the Spartans to become a blood-thirsty, power-hungry Spartan? Go ahead. Want to be part of a civilized people under Athens? You can! Want to be a Persian soldier under a empire? Boom! There you go! This is probably one of the greatest I've seen. However, there is one problem I have with this game. It's the issue with the scenes. While 9 out of 10 of the stuff from this mod is finished, the only thing that still needs to be worked out are the scenes. For whatever reason, there would be objects sticking out of buildings, going through walls and that buildings are a little too close together. Though I am playing this mod through version 1.06 (which you can get through this link: Forums.taleworlds.com), even in version 1.04 it's still stable enough to play. Now, the models are great. I really love the design, the textures and just about everything that the armors, weapons and equipment get right. Not only are there Spartans and people of Athens along with Persians, but there are other factions that you can join too. Mostly they are greekish factions, but still you can join them if you want. Now for combat, I love that this mod also includes the phalanx formation which allows soldiers with spears to throw or use for head-to-head combat. While I can't give full details of this fantastic mod, but I am going to say that I enjoyed every bit of it. Like my Bellum Imperii review, as much as I want to give this a 10/10, this is more of a 9/10 because of how this mod is still not completely finished and how the scenes are just ridiculous. Still, this mod is great and I defiantly recommend it.

Bellum Imperii

Mod review

I really enjoyed this mod. Why do I enjoy it? 'Cause not only does this mod take place during the Roman Empire, but I love how it is like the Brytenwalda mod (surprisingly, this mod also uses Brytenwalda as a "base" game.) and that the map is so huge with many diverse kingdoms. Granted the Roman Empire isn't like one kingdom but bigger, but it makes sense that the RE is at least separated into different areas where it resides so that way when you start a kingdom, you don't get super-raped by the Empire lmao. The soundtrack, while it does have some same music from movies/games based on the Roman Empire, but it defiantly fits with the tone of the mod. Granted this mod does have bugs, but thankfully I didn't come across any game-breaking bugs/crashes with the game as of v1.3. This is defiantly one of the best Roman-type mods I have ever played. It is right up there with Imperial Rome and RomeatWar2. As much as I really want to give this mod a 10/10, but I am going to have to give it a 9/10 because of some bugs that really turn down the immersion for me like the bug where the chamberlain, chancellor, marshal and others in the player's court would have invisible clothing. Great mod, and can't wait for more updates to come. :D
